Care in the Sun
The sun should be treated with respect and especailly when you are out on the water with a cooling breeze. Remember to always wear high factor sun cream and UV blocking sunglasses. Watch out for signs of burning, heat exhaustion or sunstroke (reddening skin, dopiness, dizziness, headaches) and make sure you drink lots of water to avoid dehydration.
What to Bring
The essential equipment for all of our activities is provided in
resort. You do not need any specific items of clothing or equipment to
participate in the water or land based sports. If you intend to be ‘active’ throughout your holiday
we have the following suggestions to make you more comfortable.
Sailors and Windsurfers
• Sailing gloves – provide comfort and protection to ‘office hands’.
• Light, waterproof spray tops to protect from the chilling effect of spray in strong winds.
• Beach slippers, deck shoes or wetsuit boots provide more comfortable sailing.
• Wetsuits for both dinghy sailors and windsurfers for early-mid season.
Mountain Bikers
• We supply helmets and gloves but bring your own if you prefer.
• Padded shorts – a good investment for comfortable cycling.
• Bum bag – a useful addition.
• Good quality sunglasses to deflect sun, dust and little creatures.
• Female riders may want to bring a sports bra – some off-road trails can be fairly bumpy.
Divers
• For those doing a PADI open water course, you are required to purchase a copy of the manual.
• Take a couple of passport sized photos with you if
you are doing a dive course, as you’ll need these for your
certification card.
• If you have any doubts, be sure to check with your
doctor that you are fit to dive. We will send you a copy of the PADI
medical form with your confirmation invoice.
• You are strongly advised against diving 24 hours before flying.
• Insurance is necessary on any dive holiday. Check
with your insurance company to make sure you are covered for diving.
Our policy will cover to a maximum depth of 40 metres.
Everyone
• Bring plenty of swimwear, casual holiday clothes
and a sweater or fleece for the evenings. Evening dress tends to be
informal.
• A soft, small rucksack or cool bag is extremely useful for carrying picnics, towels or spare clothes.
• Bring warm clothes in May and early June and after
mid-September. A lightweight shower proof jacket may also be useful at
these times of year.
• A towel for the beach and pool.
• If you are spending the day away on a dinghy or
bike, always take lots of water with you and a hat to keep you in the
shade.
• Windsurf and boat decks can become slippery when coated with sun oil. We suggest you use only cream.
Local currency
All of our resorts have banking facilities, most have ATM machines (except Finikounda) and many destinations accept a wide range of debit and credit cards.
