Windsurfing

Dahab is one of the best locations for windsurfing in the Red Sea, boasting over 300 days a year of winds between Force 4 and 7. A large sand spit jutting into the Gulf of Aqaba provides up to 2km of flat water reaching, with a clean cross off-shore breeze, ideal for cracking those carving manoeuvres.

Expert sailors may venture beyond the sand bar to the waves of Dahab's outer sailing area.

Beginners should not be put off by the strong wind as there are plenty of small sails to use and the naturally formed lagoon provides easy launching conditions.

Inclusive Tuition and Equipment

Our Dahab centre is a Test Centre for Starboard boards and Tushingham sails. A vast array of the latest equipment is on offer to ensure windsurfers of all levels will be kept more than entertained.

The Starboard boards which grace the DAhab board rack are the most up to date models, well suited to local conditions and include Flare, iSonic, Carve and Kombat. There may even be prototypes available as Starboard work on new designs and fly them out for testing.

Tushingham rigs have long been Neilson favourites, and we're proud to offer a full range on our Dahab kit racks, with a wide selection of sizes and styles to appeal to sailors of all levels.

• RYA Windsurfing - Start Windsurfing, Intermediate (planing and non-planing) and Advanced.
• 50 Beginner and Improver Boards from Starboard

Our usual formula of great equipment, professional tuition and a flexible approach to sailing is sure to be a big success on the waters of the Red Sea.

Mountain Biking

The first thing visitors to Egypt notice as their plane prepares to land at Sharm el Sheikh is the amazing landscape of the Sinai peninsula. Red mountains are striped with sandy valleys and golden beaches alternate with rocky foreshores, as the land gives way to deep blue seas.

For millenia, the camel has provided the best means to explore those areas 'off the beaten track'. Now the camels are joined by a fleet of high quality mountain bikes, enabling Neilson guests to take to the off-road tracks, which follow the coastline stretching to the north and south of Dahab. These trails begin as easy tracks with a scattering of loose sand but lead to more challenging sections, as more remote beaches are reached beyond rocks and obstacles.

Mountain bikers may amble along the waterfront, negotiating palm trees, camels and Bedouin villages as they head for a variety of suberb beaches, where snorkelling can be enjoyed. Refreshment comes in the form of cooling mint tea at shaded, cushioned Bedouin tents overlooking the sea.

Our Bikes

Our fleet of 10 Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo mountain bikes are available in a variety of sizes. With high-quality frames, 27 easy-to-use gears and front suspension, they are a real pleasure to ride off-road. enjoy them to the full with mountain bike guiding and skills tuition.

Scuba Diving

Underwater The Red Sea is undoubtedly home to some of the world's finest diving. Warm waters and careful conservation allow a wealth of underwater flora and fauna to thrive.

Dahab's location on the shores of the Gulf of Aqaba offers a different experience to many destinations. The deep trench of the Gulf has no off-shore reefs, concentrating all the fabulous dive sites only a short distance from the coast. Therefore, rather than heading for a dive site by boat, visitors to Dahab travel by Jeep, camel or perhaps mountain bike!

PADI Courses

For all our diving in Dahab, we work with Black Rock Dive Centre based in the grounds of the Coralia Club. They provide a full range of pre-bookable dive options and courses for you to add to your holiday package. Newcomers and non-certified divers are recommended to follow the PADI Open Water Diver course that provides all the skills you need for a great start to diving.

A range of higher qualifications are also available, including the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, the PADI Rescue Diver and the PADI Divemaster, the first professional qualification in the PADI scheme.

Snorkelling

The Red Sea is ideal for snorkelling enthusiasts since much of the underwater life exists in the first 10 metres below the surface. Guests can check out the amazing coastline from the beach or find a secluded spot by mountain bike at their leisure. Equipment can be hired from the dive school.

Kitesurfing

Kitesurfing is, without a doubt, the exciting new watersport of the moment. Drawing on many influences, kitesurfing, sometimes called kiteboarding, combines elements of wakeboarding, powerkiting, surfing and windsurfing to produce a challenging, yet highly rewarding, sport.

Dahab offers superb conditions for newcomers to kitesurfing. Wide sandy beaches, steady winds and a designated kitesurf lagoon ensure a fabulous environment for learning.

Instruction for beginners is provided by our own BKSA/IKO qualified instructors. Packages including tuiton and equipment are priced at £180 for 10 hours. The times of this tuition are not fixed in advance, allowing our expert staff to select the best wind and tide conditions for you to learn. Initially, kiteflying skills are learnt on the beach, before moving to the water to learn body drags and basic manoeuvres on the board itself. With the encouragement of our instructors, the sport is made approachable and understandable.

We recommend reserving your kitesurfing package at the time of booking your holiday, as places are limited and availability cannot be guaranteed in resort.

Other Activities

Other activities available at the Coralia Beachclub include Tennis with 2 floodlit courts, aqua aerobics, volleyball and table tennis.

A fantastic sailing area run by a great team. Went with the intention of diving, snorkelling, sight seeing, but the windsurfing was far too 'awesome'. The Neilson and hotel staff are all really attentive (although the food would have been alot nicer if it had been hotter) and go out of their way to make sure your holiday is action packed. We'll definately go back!!

Went to Dahab for Christmas week. Plenty of wind, excellent kit, especially the new Starboard Futuras. Tuition was brill and the team were great fun and very friendly. Excellent sailing areas although I only stayed in the lagoon area but my husband and son said 'Speedy' was awesome! Lovely hotel, lovely food, can't fault it, everything at Dahab you could ever want in windsurfing holiday. Will definately be visiting Dahab again. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Dahab is perfect for water based sports fanatics.

It is not suitable for families with children under the age of 4.

The childcare is superb, but places are limited to 5 spots. Therefore if you have any wish of sharing time with other families with small children I would suggest Sivota in Greece.

The Egyptian staff at the Coralia Beach restaurant are not child friendly, which made dinner at times unnerving.

In all honesty I think Neilson should designate this resort as for adults/water sport fanatics only, unless your children are 7 yrs old and above.

Neilson are a great company, but they have got Coralia Beach wrong for young families.
