When in Egypt, dinghy sailing holidays in Dahab takes place in a specially designated area 10 minutes walk along the beach from our centre. Summer months bring strong winds which may limit the extent to which beginners can enjoy sailing. However the rest of the year provides great conditions for sailors of all abilities.

The wind, created by desert thermals, generally picks up mid morning and drops again mid afternoon, blowing cross-offshore. This is especially evident in the summer months when Dahab is at its windiest.

Royal Yachting Association Tuition

RYA tuition and courses are included in the cost of your holiday until February 2009. After this time dinghy sailing tuition and courses will no longer be available in Dahab.

The courses available in Dahab until February 2009 are:
• Level 1
• Level 2
• Seamanship Skills
• Sailing with Spinnakers
• Start Racing

In Egypt, dinghy sailing holidays are becoming more popular due to the excellent wind conditions and the year round sunshine, making this a great destination for summer and winter breaks.

Just back from two glorious weeks windsurfing in Dahab.I had never tried it before but got signed off for intermediate level after two weeks thanks to the fantastic Neilson staff. They are not only excellent instructors but friendly, fun and always enthusiastic (whatever your level!). Thanks guys....I'm missing you already and I'll be back. I went on my own and was pretty apprehensive about it but within a few hours I'd met a brilliant bunch of people who I spent the rest of the time with. I stayed at the Coralia where the staff are also really friendly and although the rooms are a little tired the food was passable and loads of it. I spent way too much money but it was New Year and there was a big group of us. Next time I'll be swapping more lunches for dinners and going into town more as it's cheap there and some of the food is very good. New Years Eve was a blast(and I normally hate New Year) and the hotel staff had really pushed the boat out for us and put on a good show. For £900 i had a fantastic holiday, learned a new skill and met some cool people so I am one happy, poor but satisfied bunny! Brian x p.s. I'll be posting some pics soon.

Having returned to find UK in the grips of "The Big Freeze" could only add to the realisation that Xmas and New Year are best celebrated in Dahab. Blue skies, blue water, warmth and wind was the order of the day and with this being a return trip to the location, having loved it so much last year, shall we say enough that we will return again. (Something I have never done in all my decades of travelling ... so something has to be right!) Reading some of the comments, in the past, with regard to the food at both hotels I would say that variety is not a strong point. However dining out in Masbat will provide you with the variety and at not too much of a price. Hotel water is expensive so a short stroll along the beach between the Ganet and Swiss Inn will locate a small shop where 8 Egyptian pounds will get a large bottle of water (5 litres, I think). I cannot rate the Neilson Team highly enough, endless fun and individually taylored at the right level for everyone. Those who wished a full on activity holiday were catered for along with those who preferred a more leisurely pace. Value for money is superb as having used other windsurfing centres in the past at Dahab I can certainly say that Neilson are not only the best value for money but the tuition is also spot on. Having stayed at the Hilton for a second time now I would say that whilst they have a rolling plan for maintenance of rooms, their approach is some what "slap dash" and in places detrimental to the surroundings with white paint splashed on paving, paint pots and side cupboards left open to view aspects of Egyptian building works that spoil the overall beauty of a wonderful complex. The stone work around the fantastic ornamental pools, which at night are an absolute delight, is in need of attention, crumbling in places leaving gaps exposing the metal supports. Having said all that, maybe it's a little unfair in that on a return trip one tends to have a more critical eye. This didn't stop our enjoyment and the hotel staff were an absolute joy at both hotels. For Xmas and New Year, if you are wanting a stress free, uncommercialised time of year then I would recommend Dahab, a lot quieter than Sharm, Corelia tends to celebrate Xmas more than Hilton but Hilton certainly pulls out the stops for New Year's Eve. All in all a lovely holiday, thanks Neilson :)

Just got back after a fantastic week in Dahab. My 3rd visit to resort, but my first with Neilson. Absolutely fantastic! As an ex-Neilson employee I had high expectations, and was not disappointed. Toby, Fi and the Team were brilliant! I'd read some slighlty mixed reviews of the coralia, but couldn't fault the place. Food was lovely, varied and plentiful. The service was typically friendly egyptian, with efficient polite staff. The even better news, is that Coralia Club have started their refurbishment! So a good 3 star hotel is soon to become better. As per some previous reviews, save yourself some brass with a stroll to the supermarket for cheap drinks and snacks, and make the most of the happy hour at the coconut bar at the Hilton! Now that the new 2010 kit is in resort, there are also lots of fantastic boards and rigs to go around. Keep up the great work guys! We'll see you all again soon. Keith (Monkey) and Amanda
