The villages of Saalbach and Hinterglemm are nestled in the
Glemm Valley, part of the Kitzbuheler Alps in Salzburgerland. The self-proclaimed ‘valley of fun and games’ runs from east to west and is subsequently a real summer suntrap. This is the ideal destination for people who want quality accommodation and a superb choice of outdoor activities and sports facilities.
Mountain bikers will be spoilt for choice with 180km of cross country and free-riding trails while hikers have no less than 400km of marked footpaths to choose from including several themed walks. Those with a head for heights can swing around in the trees on what’s planned to be Austria’s largest high ropes course and for watersports, Zell Lake is easily accessible by bus.
Even skiers and boarders are provided for on the year-round snowy slopes at the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, Kaprun, 30km away. Both villages have pedestrianised centres offering a good choice of bars, cafés and restaurants, and quiet, relaxed nightlife, which, after a day’s exertions is probably just what you need.
