Neilson Lesvos is always
keeping people busy with a wide range of different activities that it has to
offer. We have had exciting times with
spectacular live entertainment from some of our guests and awesome weather for
all the beach activities. And there is still lots to look forward to in the coming
weeks!
Each Wednesday
we have a Sail 4 Cancer event raising money for our chosen charity. So far we
have raised an amazing 1,416.41 Euros, a massive thank you goes to all of our
guests who have kindly contributed.
Last Wednesday
each department got up and fought it out to prove who was the number one
department at ‘Lesvos 2010 Battle of the Bands’. The
Beach team performed some synchronized windsurf freestyle moves to music,
whilst the chefs showed us how ‘They want to break free’! The crowd were blown
away by the appearance of 3 of the senior managers- Eric, Charlie and Bonner
broke new boundaries with their rendition of Ant and Dec’s ‘Ready to Rumble’! However
it was the restaurant team that came up trumps as they performed a number from
the new musical ‘Hairspray’ and even dressed up as the characters.
On Thursdays we
have an open mic night where great music is performed by our in resort entertainer
Ben and also guests who wish to take part. Last week our guests Mike and his
band joined in on the action and they just happened to be all professional
musicians! Out of the many places they have performed they said that Lesvos
beats Glastonbury
anyday! The drummer made use of a toilet brush stand and a toilet bin to
assemble his instruments! Brilliant night and brilliant musicians equalled a
night to remember.
On to the
bikes…we have a new and exciting bike ride called the Wine, Dine and Ride. This
involves a short ride up to the winter village of Eressos
to Sam’s Restaurant, here we enjoy a three course meal including a wide range
of meze starters. Our guiding includes a large number of rides to suit all
standards of cycling. My personal favourite is the ‘Dambuster Turbo’ which is a
15km ride up to the Dam, we cross the dam and proceed to climb up the other
side of the reservoir where there are some great views over the monastery. It then proceeds to drop down into Eressos
and meanders its way back to the hotel.
The children’s
clubs definitely don’t believe in the old saying ‘children should be seen and
not heard’ with their singing and dancing around resort! There are a lot of
teenagers on their summer break at the moment and a full activity programme has
been put together to make sure they are entertained in and around resort on
their holidays.
We have been
enjoying some lighter winds in the morning which is ideal for beginner and
intermediate windsurfers and sailors and an awesome F4-5 wind in the afternoons
for those who have the need for speed. On my day off I managed to enjoy 5 hours
blasting around Skala Eressos bay on a 4.5m sail!! The wind is looking good for
the coming weeks as the Meltemi has settled in for the summer.
We really are
having a smashing season out here and we look forward to seeing you all soon!
