Currency

The local currency is the Euro (€).

Exchange rate

£1 = €1.35 (approximate at October 2007).

Time Zone
Andorra is 1 hour ahead of GMT.

Calling Home
Remember to add 00 44 and to remove the ‘0’ from the start of the local area code.

Electricity
Andorra operates on 220 or 240 volts AC, the same as the UK but plugs and sockets are different which means you’ll need a continental adaptor.

Shopping
You’ll find alcohol, cigarettes, electrical goods, ski and board equipment, and clothing a lot cheaper than the UK and even the airport shops. So, save your money and enjoy shopping when you get there. Note, a 4% tax has recently been introduced
on many goods and services.

Some Useful Tips
  • The majority of Andorrans are multi-lingual, speaking Catalonian, Spanish, French and English so there should be no problem ordering lunch in the mountain restaurants.

  • Caldea Thermal Spa in Andorra la Vella is an impressive spa centre with indoor and outdoor pools, fountains, waterfalls, saunas, hot tubs, Turkish baths and even a grapefruit bath! Well worth a trip one afternoon and accessible from all our resorts.
