The medieval town of Kitzbühel with its attractive painted buildings,
cobbled streets and quaint church make it a beautiful place to stay. It
can be as lively in the evenings as you want it to be with a great
choice of bars, often with live music, open ‘til late. For non-skiers,
there are endless shopping opportunities and a casino. Kirchberg may
not have quite the same glamour but still offers plenty of restaurants,
shops and bars, although is not as lively in the evenings as its
neighbour.
A Game On Ice
Curling – it’s like bowling but on ice. It’s a game which can be played by any age or ability. Join the locals and take a stroll to the local curling rink to try out this somewhat crazy sport!
Have A Gourmet Flutter
Visit Kitzbühel’s casino for the evening and enjoy a gastronomic feast in one of the casino’s affliated restaurants. If you’d rather not have a flutter you can still spectate at the highly charged roulette table.
Leave The Crowds Behind In A Hot Air Balloon
One of the most serene ways to view the mountain region. A ride in a hot air balloon is a fabulously peaceful journey from peak to peak.
A Refreshing Way Down The Mountain
Kirchberg’s 3.5km long toboggan run is open until 10pm. The Gaisberg lift takes you up the mountain and then it’s time to take a seat and slide all the way back down. A couple of cosy, slopeside mountain huts provide refreshments on the way down.
Clock Up The Mileage
As well as easy access to the 160km Kitzbuheler ski area, a new gondola connects Kirchberg to Westendorf, part of the 250km Ski Welt area. Kirchberg is now firmly on the map as a gateway to one of Austria’s super-sized ski areas.
