Bansko is worth a visit just to experience the ‘Mehana’ or Taverns that are dotted all over the resort. They are the traditional restaurants serving up incredible hospitality, local dishes, fine wines and authentic Bulgarian entertainment. A guaranteed good night out and one that is not to be missed!

The resort itself is a fairly large, spread out and constantly growing village where the old meets the new and buildings are springing up every few months. It's worth taking a walk around the 'old town' to get a feel for the more traditional side of Bulgaria.

A limited number of ski related shops and activities are available but otherwise commercially undeveloped. Great for improving skiers who love evenings with friends in cosy bars and restaurants, not so good for those looking for lots of shopping. Most of the activities are based around your hotel, such as 10 pin bowling and swimming.

Wine Tasting Evening
Spend an evening tasting excellent local wine in one of the towns 'Mehana', accompanied with traditional Bulgarian dishes. Leave your pre-conceptions at the door, and enjoy the warm hospitality and excellent food.

Night Skiing
Enjoy the long winding run down through the woods from the top of the gondola and experience a different world to the one the sun left behind. An excellent start to a Bansko evening.

Cross country Skiing
Skiing without a ski lift? It’s how the sport started and with the advent of modern, light equipment, it’s a great new skill to learn and a way to experience the mountains in a totally different light.

See your Rep in resort for any more details or to book any apres ski or activities!

Bansko has some good runs, although the long gondola ride up every morning cuts into your boarding time, add that to a cathing a bus every morning and your wake up call needs to be very early.
Just come back and although nursing a broken shoulder 'on the last day' had some good board time + improved through the excellent advanced lessons 'jo'.
Generally the food in the hotels is poor even though ours was 4 star.
Prices are no cheaper than uk unless you walk miles out of the centre.
Reps were ok when you could manage to find one but very dull on the organised events.
Upon injuring shoulder reps had a good laugh but offered no help regarding aftercare or how to handle insurance claims ect.
If your going for the slopes this is for you,if your after an all round holiday look carefully

Had a fantastic holiday in Bansko. Skiing great for beginners or intermediates-good long blue runs, excellent ski school. Worth going to Hotel Strazhite if you can-it's comfortable & in a good location avoiding the huge building site that much of Bansko currently consists of. Rep v helpful. Food in hotel plentiful, food on slopes is junk food but at least reasonably priced.

The main problem the resort has it that the gondola has reached saturation in the mornings. The first hour & a half of each day was a race to get in the gondola queue before the hoards. With all the building that's going on in Bansko I don't see how the gondola system will be able to transport the additional people next winter.
