Situated 170km north of the Arctic circle, Levi is Finland’s most famous ski holiday resort, hosting many a World Cup ski event and competition.

The Levi's ski holiday resort attracts visitors from all corners of the globe, seeking extraordinary experiences that only Lapland can offer. Wrapped up snug in the back of a husky sled or racing along frozen expanses by snowmobile - you’ll experience activities here you simply won’t find elsewhere on other ski holidays.

No surprise then that, for most people, skiing is definitely not the only thing on the holiday agenda. Like the magical midwinter skies, the village centre offers a unique charm, its streets lined with attractively lit restaurants and many an entrance way adorned with beautiful ice sculptures.

Combine all this with a snowsure climate, pleasantly crowd-free slopes and stunning arctic scenery, and you can see why most visitors leave promising themselves they’ll be back for more before too long.

Visit our activities and apres ski page for details of the endless list of winter activities available.

Please note: during the months of December and January, the resort will plan to open approximately 20km of pistes as these slopes are floodlit and daylight hours are limited.

Levi log cabins 12th-19th Dec 2009. Fantastic holiday best holiday ever by miles. We took our son Dafyd to Lapland all i can say to sum up this holiday is magical it is so clean and tidy there and very traditional, the log cabins are fab they're really clean and very cosy, home from home we cooked sausages on our log fire used the sauna every night, there is a free ski bus that stops outside the cabins every 30mins that takes you to levi centre and stops outside zero point, but make sure your on the last bus at 7pm or you will have to walk the 40mins walk back to the cabins,we had a welcome pack when arrived at the cabins, orange juice, milk, bread, butter, ham and fruit which was great as we didn't arrive till 7pm at the cabins. We tried a bit of skiing which was a good laugh, but were mainly there for the seach for santa, snowmobile ride, ice hotel & gala dinner, reindeer ride & husky sled ride which didn't disappoint they were all great fun, a little cold on the day of the snowmobile excursion it was -26C which by the time we got to the reindeer farm was -30C ouch! it was painfull to take our gloves off to take photos. But average temp out there that week was about -16C. My son and husband can't wait to go again as a ski holiday, OMG! I'll never have a tan again they would rather ski then lay on a beach. Out of this would.

First the good news : the snow is fantastic - better than snow in the Alps and as there is so much snow the scenery looks beautiful. Just got back from a week in Feb 2009 in Levi Cabins. The reason the snow is so good is that the temperature is so low (very rarely below zero) : was - 23C one day we were there. You need at least 2 more layers on your legs and body than you would typically have in the Alps.

Now for the bad news - the lifts leave a bit to be desired - they are nearly all drag (T-bar) lifts and when a critical one taking you from the village goes down e.g. The Gondola (e.g. due to high wind) or Lift 3 then you are a bit stuck - can involve a serious walk with skis or serious replanning as there are usually no immediate alternatives.

If you are staying in Levi Cabins then transport is a bit limited. The busses to the village or the nearest lift only run every half hour - start at 9AM and stop at 7PM. It is possible to walk to the village - takes about 30 mins.

I suggest that you don't shell out for storage at Zero Point but store your skis at the cabin and take the 10:05 bus to (T bar) lift 6 (takes 5 mins) rather than go to zero point on the 9:35 bus - takes 20 mins. This saves you money and gives you more flexibility - but you do have to carry the skis on the bus ...

Mostly ate in - did go the the Arran - very nice, but a bit pricey.

Overall v good - would definitely consider going back - the snow and scenery was so good - offset the ski convenience aspects.

We have returned from Levi after a fab week (half term) As a cross country skier it was like paradise with so many routes and floodlights at night. The kotas en route with fires and refreshments were great. The downhill skiing for the experienced teenagers in my family met with approval. We went on an excursion to the Reindeer farm including a sleigh ride - this was magical (although the excursions are expensive). Our rep Vikki was helpful and very good at her job. Reindeer steak at the Steak House was delicious
