Avoriaz

Avoriaz makes up part of the massive Portes du Soleil ski area, and, even though it's not the prettiest resort, there is fantastic door step skiing and boarding, and being reasonably high it has a good snow record too.

Beginners

The ski school meets on the gentle plateau at the top of the village. Beginners can quickly build up their confidence in this excellent nursery area and should purchase their local area lift pass in resort as this will provide them with ample gentle skiing.

Intermediates

It is hard to imagine a resort better suited to the needs of the intermediate skier. Within the Avoriaz area itself there are more than 240km of mostly red and blue pistes and the vast Portes du Soleil circuit offers even more extensive scope.

Advanced

The top of the Chavanette drag lift marks the beginning of one of the world’s toughest black runs, ‘The Wall’, a heart-stopping 300m vertical drop of waist-high moguls. The off-piste opportunities in Avoriaz are boundless and if you are beaten by ‘The Wall’, you can regain your pride on the World Cup downhill piste.

Snowboarding

The huge “Portes du Soleil” area has long been a favourite with snowboarders. Avoriaz features three snowboard parks, including one for beginners and a half-pipe. The resort also offers long wide pistes ideal for learning on for beginners and, cruising or practising tricks. Chairlifts predominate over drags enabling boarders of every ability level to access the whole area easily.

Night Skiing

if you're not content with skiing all day, you can make the most of your time on the slopes and ski at night too!
