This is a great town with an abundance of shops, restaurants and bars.
If you are not spending time on the mountain skiing or boarding there
are plenty of sightseeing opportunities or just relax with a coffee and
admire the beautiful scenery of Mont Blanc. There are also many active
sports to take part in away from the slopes. With over 200 shops, 148
bars and restaurants, 4 nightclubs, a casino, a cinema and a wide range
of ‘off the slopes’ sports and leisure amenities, one week in Chamonix
might just seem a little short. With this selection there are endless
possibilities for early and late drinking.
Shop until you drop
There is an abundance of designer shops & unique boutiques here, the choice is infinite - you may find you need to stop off in the many cafes & restaurants to rest your feet in-between times.
Turn your hand to climbing
Try out a new sport or re-discover an old one at the indoor climbing centre. With walls for children, beginners and experts. It is well worth a visit for non skiers & on the odd bad weather day.
The Vallee Blanche
If you are a good intermediate, then consider booking onto a guided group for the long, infamous 'Vallee Blanche' run down the glacier from the top of the 'Aiguille du Midi' cable car at 3840m, from where you set off along the ice ridge then ski back down to Montenvers just above Chamonix. It's a unique trip that you will remember for many years for the stunning view of the mountain summits as you exit the ice tunnel at the top of the cable car, to the distinctive distant jagged peaks as you descend onto the glacier with its crevasses and wonderful turquoise blue ice formations. Truly exhilarating!
If you’re not quite up to the full trip down the glacier, it's still well worth an outing to the top of the cable car for the views, where there is a café serving coffee at altitude!
These are just a few of the activities on offer. See
your Rep in resort for any more details or to book any apres ski or
activities!
