We booked our stay at Chalet La Bergerie last-minute, having read the other reviews from Neilson guests we felt confident that this would be a good choice. I agree that the downstairs of the chalet is lovely - really spacious and tastefully decorated, and the views are absolutely stunning. (Be warned though, if you sit down on the sofas you might not ever get up again - they are that comfortable!) Unfortunately there were definite down sides too. The bedroom we had was probably the smallest room I have ever had, and with sloping ceilings there was very limited head height (my partner is 6'3" and found this very uncomfortable)- this wasn't mentioned when we booked. Not only was the room small, but there was almost no storage, so I couldn't even unpack my suitcase - it had to stay on the floor for the entire week, and I then had to climb over it to get from the bed to the bathroom or the exit, there just wasn't anywhere else to put it. Due to the lack of storage in the bedroom, we chose to keep most of our ski gear in the 'boot room' downstairs, which was spacious and well heated. Unfortunatly this was not a good idea, as one of my items went missing on the second day and never returned... The chalet staff were pleasant and helpful, although unfortunately we only had a rep for the first morning as he was taken off to another resort. I have to say that the food was disappointing - having read other reviews I was expecting some really good meals, and whilst they were adequate they were really nothing special, and not in great quantities. Not what we expected. However, the free-flowing wine did make up for it - not only was there plenty of it but it was actually very nice!
The resort itself was lovely - great skiing (even on the last week of the season, although most of the runs in La Rosiere turned to slush by around lunchtime!) and the ski bus service that stops virtually outside the chalet was superb. (I wouldn't recommend trying to walk up to the Maison de Ski wearing ski-boots...!)
All in all we did enjoy our stay - but not the quality that we expected from Neilson. Also, just a word of warning about Neilson's 'No Children' policy - apparently it doesn't apply on certain weeks (or maybe it's just with late bookings). Would we have booked if we'd known that there would be 4 children (not ours) under the age of 10 in the chalet? Probably not!

Amazing place - it's converted me to chalet holidays forever! Stayed here in Feb 2009 and can hand on heart say that the chalet made our holiday perfect. The Euro/GBP rate was awful at the time, so the Bergerie offered us a great value holiday that felt like luxury - we hardly spent anything when we were there (apart from the obligatory hot chocolate/beer!). The chalet staff were so friendly and welcoming - they gave us all the space we wanted but we could still rely on them if we needed anything. Their home-baked cakes were to die for - it was great to arrive back from a cold day on the hill and have fresh cake, bread and a nice cuppa waiting for you! Evening meals were excellent too, with enough wine to give us a good night's sleep! The resort bus stops so close to the chalet that there's absolutely no problem getting to and from the lifts, although we chose to try and walk the cake off a get up there by foot (only a 10min walk uphill). In the evening it's well worth a stroll over to Les Eucherts - the path through the woodland is stunning as the sun goes down. I would definitely recommend it to anyone - especially if you have a group large enough to fill it yourselves. We're definitely going to try other Neilson chalets as I think the staff there were the icing on the cake for us!

I found this property a dream to stay in, it was perfect in the sense that it reminded me from something on a Christmas card! The views were spectacular, it is all south facing so the views are just miles of valleys and mountains. The chalet itself is very cosy with traditional décor including big comfy sofas and a log fire…a very nice place to unwind with a glass of wine after a long day on the slopes! The chalet hosts made me feel very much at home, they were very friendly and professional. The cuisine was exceptional, and the cleanliness was maintained throughout our stay. The bedrooms were comfortable and warm, and the balcony on my room made the stay idyllic. Overall I would rate my stay as excellent and I will definitely return to this resort and stay at this property!
