Beginners

The beginners' slopes in Val Thorens are situated close to the village centre. The English-speaking school has an excellent reputation and lessons are usually five or six half-days.

Intermediates

Intermediate skiers are spoilt for choice with an inexhaustible combination of marked runs. The best intermediate skiing in Val Thorens has to include the long, sweeping blues of the Moraine and Genepi runs, the Fond 1 lift for excellent snow and on a sunny afternoon, the extremely long, winding ‘Christine’. Also particularly good are the areas of Les Combes and other lifts interconnecting with Méribel.

Advanced

There are countless challenging runs on and off-piste, both in the immediate proximity of Val Thorens and further a field within the extensive 3 Valleys system. Without a doubt, the biggest challenge of all is the steep black run under the famous Cime de Caron cable car whilst the heavily mogulled slopes on the face of the glacier and the Cascade pistes are also worth a mention. There are also some great off-piste runs from the top of Val Thorens over towards Mottaret.

Snowboarding

The vast 3 Valley ski area is a snowboarder’s heaven. There are groomed slopes to suit every taste, serviced by a well-linked lift system consisting mainly of chairs and gondolas. The off-piste is easily accessible and Val Thorens also offers a new snowboard park with its own half-pipe.
