La Thuile itself is ideal for families with older children, with plenty of activities both on and off the slopes to keep youngsters occupied.

Skiing Children: The ski school offers private 1hr lessons for children from 4yrs - approx €35per hour low season or €39 per hour high season. These can organised locally although the ski school recommends pre-booking direct by emailing: scuoladisci@lathuile.it or telephoning: 00 39 0165 884123. Group ski school lessons start from 5yrs and are pre-bookable through Neilson. Please note: ski helmets are compulsory for children and are included when children book ski hire.

Non-Skiing Children: There is a non-skiing mini-club located within the Planibel complex that accepts children from 4-12yrs. This service is Italian speaking only. The service is free to guests staying in Hotel Planibel or Planibel Apartments - parents must sign in their children for the service on arrival. Families staying in other properties should contact the club directly by telephoning 00 39 0165 813 231.

40 of us have just arrived back from La Thuile in Italy. Small but very friendly resort, with easy access to the slopes from the Planibel Apartments where we stayed for the 3rd consecutive year. Dan our Neilson Rep realy looked after us well, nothwithstanding his own illness one day of the week. We had a serious injury to one of our group, and Dan took control of her insurance paperwork, and liased with the hospital & airline when we flew home at the end of the week. There are a good selection of slopes in the resort, as well as over in La Rosiere in France which you can ski over to. Something for all ability levels. Great snow there this year. Goof selection of Neilson days & nights out. We went to the pasta & wine tasting, and the Evening in a Mountain restaurant, where you are taken by mini snowcat, and have a good meal half way up a blue run. Both were good value for money. Old Town of La Thuile is worth a walk. This is where other resturant options, the Bank & several nice bars & cafes are situated. Overall, a great week away, even if expensive due to the £/Euro exchange rate. La Thuile is a small resort in terms of the town. It was noticeably quieter this year except on Saturday evening.
