Practical Information

Below are some helpful bits of information for you to plan your holiday with.

Currency
The local currency is the Romanian Leu. We advise you take cash (sterling or dollars) as credit cards and Eurocheques are rarely accepted. Travellers cheques can be subject to a 6% commission and credit cards 10%. You should change your money into
local currency as sterling is not widely accepted in bars and restaurants. Try not to change too much money as it can be difficult to change back if you are left with any at the end of your holiday.

Exchange rate
£1 = 4.23 Leu. (approximate at October 2007).

Time Zone
Romania is 2 hours ahead of GMT.

Calling Home

Remember to add 00 44 and to remove the ‘0’ from the start of the local area code.

Electricity

Romania operates on 220 or 240 volts AC, the same as the UK but plugs and sockets are different which means you’ll need a continental adaptor.

Ski Packs
We strongly recommend you pre-book all ski pack items required as price in resort are considerably more than the pre-bookable prices.

A Useful Tip
    • Romania would not be recommended for gourmets as the food is basic and can be served warm rather than hot. However, the wine connoisseur will find many excellent local wines available at bargain prices.
