Vemdalen

"It’s quiet, it’s off the beaten track and it’s very, very special. It may not have a huge ski area but the friendly, personal service you get here, together with the dedicated children’s ski area, award winning ski school and winter activities suitable for all ages means you’ll be hard pressed to find a more family and beginner friendly resort than this."

Spa Centre (Storhogna)

Learning or improving skiing and snowboarding techniques and having a go at various winter activities is the main priority in this small but perfectly formed ski centre, where many of the facilities are housed within the Vemdalen Hotel. Nightlife is generally quiet here but at weekends, things can liven up in the bars as local Swedes arrive for the weekend.

Sledding with huskies

Arguably Sweden’s cutest residents! A beautiful team of huskies will bound ahead while you’re wrapped up warm in your sled, taking in the magnificent scenery. An unforgettable experience for all ages.

Lovely intimate resort, the Swedes are lovely, very friendly and welcoming. The service in the restaurants and even the 'Sybylla' burger bar was excellent, not a miserable face in sight! Our Neilson reps, James & Natalie were brilliant and went out of their way to ensure our stay was a memorable one for all the right reasons. We stayed in one of the Skalsbyn apartments, which was very warm (too warm sometimes!) clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed. With a view overlooking the piste, the ski school and lifts were less than 100m, and we were able to ski in and out to/from our door. The only thing I missed was a pool in the nearby hotel to jump into at the end of the afternoon....

This is a brilliant resort for families and for beginners. only drawbacks are: drag lifts (mainly T-bars); limited runs
