Before You Go

Care in the Sun

The sun should be treated with respect and especailly when you are out on the water with a cooling breeze. Remember to always wear high factor sun cream and UV blocking sunglasses. Watch out for signs of burning, heat exhaustion or sunstroke (reddening skin, dopiness, dizziness, headaches) and make sure you drink lots of water to avoid dehydration.

What to Pack

Generally the weather is very good, hot and sunny and we recommend travelling light with beach/swimwear, shorts and t-shirts for the daytime and casual comfortable clothing for the evening. For early and late season we recommend you also take some warmer clothing and a waterproof or spray top.

Some people may also find that the following items will help: Sailing gloves offer comfort and protection for hands not used to ropes etc. Light, waterproof spray tops and beach slippers or deck shoes.

All linen and towels for your yacht are provided with the exception of beach towels so please bring your own. As storage space on board can be limited, we recommend that you take soft foldable bags rather than suitcases.

Local currency

All of our bases and sailing areas have banking facilities, ATM machines and many destinations accept a wide range of debit and credit cards, however for some of the more remote areas you will need to have a supply of cash. Our flotilla lead crews will advise which of the flotilla stops have cash machines or exchange facilities so you can plan accordingly.
