The Greek Ionian

The Ionian is one of the Mediterranean's most popular yachting destinations with gentle breezes and a scattering of picturesque islands and sheltered harbours offering the perfect introduction to sailing. The Southern Ionian is ideal for the less experienced sailor due to its sheltered waters and generally shorter routes, whilst the Northern Ionian offers more adventurous sailing with longer passages, less crowded waters and steady breezes.

Athos Hotel

A warm welcome awaits you at The Athos Hotel, with a large refreshing pool, relaxing atmosphere and pool bar. The focus during the day rests with learning to sail, refreshing existing skills, relaxing around the pool and enjoying the resort of Nidri or the island’s beaches.

Accommodation during your week ashore

All rooms and bathrooms have been recently refurbished in a bright, neutral colour scheme. Twin and double rooms are comfortable with private shower, wc, air conditioning, plasma TV, hairdryer and balcony or terrace. Some rooms are adjoining and are ideal for families. There are also some triple rooms with two single beds and one camp style bed.

Facilities

Hotel facilities include two bars, a daytime snackbar, large freshwater swimming pool and patio area, children’s pool and outdoor jacuzzi. Safety deposit boxes are available, payable locally.

Activities and Children's Clubs

A free try-dive is available in the hotel pool and further dives can be organised locally with the PADI recognised dive school. You can also join boat trips to nearby islands and guided walks of the local area.

There are no children’s clubs and limited children’s facilities at The Athos Hotel. If you require children’s clubs, watersports and shorebased activities our other Stay and Sail base in the Ionian - The Retreat - may suit you better.

Meals

Continental buffet breakfast is included.

What an amazing week! We were all a little nervous this being our first sailing holiday with 2 children under 4, Grandma and a pregnant mum, but thanks to the fabulous boat, setting, and most importantly Jimmy, Matt and Steve, our lead crew, who were so friendly, helpful and just generally great they ensured we had the most fabulous week - one to be repeated asap.

What a fantastic week so much going on, every day was a new adventure, esspecially on the last day when we all returned to Nidri. Great to meet Ben and Vicki, grandma and the girls what a crew and fantastic family. Off course Neilson flotillas work because the crew are fantastic esspecially Steve Mat(Ben)and Jimmy. Thanks guys for a fantastic week on flot and also for the second week at the Athos. Reccommend stay and sail, sail first week and stay second, cause youll need the rest. Its also great to meet OLD crew like Candy, Alex, Edd and off course Peddro who tries to keep the old girls aflaot. See you all next year again.
