Zell Am See at a glance
Zell am See is one of Austria’s most popular summer resorts. Its location on the shores of Lake Zell, flanked on all sides by stunning mountain ranges, makes it an ideal summer destination for activity and adventure seekers. Walking and mountain biking, numerous watersports, racquet sports, golf and paragliding; the list of activities here is endless.
With the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Grossglockner mountains on the doorstep, enthusiastic hikers will find unlimited trails to explore, while the Rettenwand and Gletscherseeplatte rock faces offer some excellent climbing for both novices and experts. Those looking for a relaxing break would be hard pressed to find a more idyllic setting in which to unwind with its medieval, traffic-free centre and its traditional-style cafés and bars. The lake is a picturesque place for a gentle stroll, a swim or simply sunbathing and the cable car gives you easy access to the top of the Schmittenhöhe for long lunches and fabulous walks.
