Interlaken at a glance
Situated between shimmering Lakes Thun and Brienz and enjoying views of three famous peaks, the Jungfrau, Eiger and Monch, Interlaken is surrounded by dramatic scenery that will remain etched on your memory forever. Narrow streets and old picturesque buildings create its quirky centre, where you’ll find a lively market every week.
Relaxation seekers will enjoy indulging in afternoon tea and pastries at the famous Café Schuh or simply watching the world go by from flower-decked squares in the village or from the Höhematte open meadow. Walkers and hikers will be in paradise with over 500kms of summer trails from pleasant scenic walks along the lakefront to easily accessible harder terrain for experienced hikers in the surrounding mountains.
The town is also known as the Swiss capital for adventure with a huge range of high-octane experiences available including rafting, canyoning, paragliding and bungee jumping. Whatever you’re looking for, the efficient rail, bus and boat network means nothing in the region need go undiscovered.
