Saas Fee at a glance
This delightful and picturesque car-free village is set in a beautiful 1800m valley, surrounded by huge glaciers and views of no less than 13 peaks towering over 4000m, including Switzerland’s highest, the Dom.
With flower-covered rustic wooden chalets, quaint narrow streets, gorgeous scenery and clear Alpine air, Saas Fee offers a truly relaxing mountain retreat. You could be forgiven for thinking this is a sleepy resort, but Saas Fee’s bustling centre has a wealth of lively bars and cafés and some great shopping opportunities.
This is fantastic walking country, too, with marked trails taking you across high summer meadows and through dense pine woods, and a network of cable cars like the Alpine Express gondola to take you to some of the region’s highest peaks. The Alpine Metro, meanwhile, is the world’s highest underground train, leading to the Mittelallalin glacier where you’ll find the world’s highest revolving restaurant and an ice pavilion inside the glacier itself.
