Data Protection The data controller in relation to any personal data you supply is Neilson Active Holidays Limited. Information you supply may be used for the purpose of arranging insurance on your behalf and may be disclosed to AXA Insurance UK plc. AXA Insurance UK plc may send it in confidence for processing to other companies in the AXA group (or companies acting on their instructions) including those outside the European Economic Area. Neilson Active Holidays Limited and its agents may use your information to keep you informed by post, telephone, e-mail or other means about products and services that may be of interest to you. Your information may also be disclosed and used for these purposes after your policy has lapsed. Brief details of the amounts of cover are set out below and the terms, conditions and exclusions will be shown in full on the Policy Document issued on payment of the appropriate premium.
You may ask us for a copy beforehand should you wish to inspect it.
The insurance also contains exclusions and conditions, amongst which the following are very important. Failure to comply with the following conditions may invalidate your cover.
Important Notices
- Most sections of the policy do not cover the first £50 of each and every claim per incident for each insured person.
- The following is a condition of this policy:
- (1) It is a condition of this policy that you will not be covered under the section Cancellation, Curtailment, and Emergency Medical and other Expenses sections for any claims arising directly or indirectly from:
- (a) At the time of taking out this policy:
- (i) Any Pre-Existing Medical Condition you or any other insured person travelling have or had which falls into one or both of the following categories unless you have consulted us by telephoning our screening helpline on 0870 750 0898 and we have agreed to provide cover.
- Pre-Existing Medical Condition means
- (a) Any respiratory condition (relating to the lungs or breathing), heart condition, stroke or cancer for which you have ever received treatment (including surgery, tests or investigations by your doctor or a consultant/specialist and prescribed drugs or medication).
- (b) Any medical condition for which you have received surgery, inpatient treatment or investigations in a hospital or clinic within the last six months or if you are aged 85 or over, any medical condition for which you have received surgery, inpatient treatment or investigations in a hospital or clinic at any time.
- (ii) Any medical condition for which you have received a terminal prognosis.
- (iii) Any medical condition for which you are on a waiting list for or have knowledge of the need for surgery, in patient treatment or investigation at a hospital, clinic or nursing home.
- (b) At any time:
- (i) Any medical condition for which you are travelling against the advice of a Medical Practitioner or would be travelling against the advice of a Medical Practitioner had you sought his/her advice.
- (ii) Any medical condition for which you are travelling with the intention of obtaining medical treatment (including surgery or investigation) or advice outside of the United Kingdom or within the Channel Islands.
- (iii) Anxiety, depression or any other mental or nervous disorder unless it has been investigated and diagnosed as such by a consultant specialising in the relevant field.
- (iv) You are expected to give birth within eight weeks of the start of the trip, during the trip or within eight weeks of the end of the trip.
- (2) We will not pay for the loss of, theft of, or damage to money, passport or valuables left unattended at any time unless in a safety deposit box or a hotel safe.

You should read this document carefully. It gives full details of what is not covered and the conditions of cover. Cover will vary from policy to policy and from insurer to insurer.Hazardous Activities
If you are planning to take part in any activities or sports, please check your Policy covers you.Property Claims
These claims are settled based on the value of the property at the time you lose it and not on the cost of buying new items. Your Policy will set out the claims procedure.Unattended property as defined in this policy is not covered.
Limits
Most sectors of your Policy have limits on the amount we will pay under that section. Some sections have specific inner limits, (for example, valuables). Please check your Policy to ensure the cover is adequate for your needs.Excess
Under most sections of your Policy, claims will be subject to an excess. This means that you will be responsible for paying the first part of each claim.Reasonable Care
You must take all reasonable care to protect yourself and your property as if you were not insured.Complaints
- Your Policy includes a Complaints Procedure which tells you what steps you can take if you wish to make a complaint.
Legal Jurisdiction
You are free to choose the law applicable to this policy. Your policy will be governed by the law of England and Wales unless you and AXA have agreed otherwise.Date Recognition Failure
Your Policy contains an exclusion for some losses arising from the failure of equipment to correctly recognise the calendar date.Non UK Residents
Non UK residents should note that due to National Health Service restriction, upon repatriation to the United Kingdom any further medical expenses will be at your own cost. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have adequate medical expenses cover while you are in the United Kingdom.‘Cooling Off’ Period
Your Policy may contain a ‘cooling off’ period during which you can return the Policy and get a refund.Back to top
