How do I apply for a job?
A You need to fill in the online application on our website. We answer every application - and you should hear from us within 7 working days of receiving your application this is generally an automated E-mail response. Make sure you know which job you are applying for before completing the application form, by checking out the job roles on the website.
Q Where should I look to see what jobs are available?
A Click on our Overseas Vacancies box.
Q Where do I send my CV?
A All candidates should fill out an on line application form via our website. Please do not send in your CV unless specifically asked to do so by a member of the recruitment team. We are unable to hold CV's on file.
Q I have just finished school/college and do not have any previous work experience, can I still apply for a role?
A Of course you may apply straight after school or college but you must be over 18 as we have to stick to stringent laws to do with effect working time directives.
Q What happens next in the application process?
A Depending on the role you have applied for your application will be reviewed and if successful you will be invited to attend an interview or an assessment centre.
Q When will I know if my application was successful? What's the timescale involved?
A The time taken for reviewing applications may vary depending on the type of role you are applying for. However we do reply with a generic E-mail. As recruitment is ongoing throughout the year we cannot offer a time scale to when we will be in touch. If you are successful we will endeavour to contact you as soon as possible.
Q I applied to Neilson before and was unsuccessful. Can I reapply?
A You may reapply for the same role after six months have passed since your original application by completing a new application form.
Q What opportunities are there for career progression?
A As we are part of Thomas Cook PLC, a leading international leisure travel Group, this means that as you grow and develop, there are many opportunities for you to progress your career with us either overseas or back here in the UK.
Q Some of your roles are seasonal, what happens at the end of the winter and summer season?
A At Neilson we are keen to offer other opportunities within the Group. Mid-season, there will be discussions with your line manager regarding future opportunities to progress your career with us, as well as maximizing your knowledge and skills.
Q I have good language skills. Will this help me get a job with Neilson?
A Language skills are always valued with in our company. It is particularly useful for roles that are based overseas.
Q What sort of Passport/Visa do I need to have?
A You need to be an EU national or have a work permit valid for both the UK and the country you are posted in you will also need a valid national insurance number.
Q Do I need a CRB check?
A All candidates who are placed into a position that involves the care of children will need to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. If you do not hold a current CRB, Neilson will provide you with one.
Q How long do the seasons last?
A For winter you need to be able to commit to the entire season from late November through to late April. All employees will be expected to attend our training programme overseas, which runs mid-end of November, and is a great opportunity to find out about your future season, and meet the resort team, as well as the Operations Department. The summer season is from April/May through till October/November.
Q What should I expect from the training course?
A The training course is incredibly intensive, as it has been designed to ensure that you can meet all our guests' expectations and requests. It runs over six days, and each training course varies slightly dependent on the role which you have applied for. This gives the trainers opportunity to see any areas of potential development of each individual, and assess the suitability of the teams. Certain roles involve a more practical side so we would shadow you with one of our experts.
