RECRUITMENT PROCESS

In the present climate there are lots of good people actively looking for work so to ensure we get the right people with the right skills we structure our recruitment process vigorously.

We ensure that at every stage of the recruitment process all applications are dealt with in a fair and effective way. The recruitment process is a two-way process. Not only are we keen to get to know you, but it is also your opportunity to find out more about working for Neilson and what we have to offer to ensure that if we want you to work for us  you want to work for us too.

As you can imagine our jobs are very sought after and everyone wants to join us. For around 1200 places we roughly have about 5,000 applications every year. On top of this once people work for us they're often in it for some time. The retention of our staff is around the 60% mark.  So if you do the maths you'll see we're very popular!

Our recruitment process consists of four stages:

STAGE 1 - Application

The first stage in applying for a job with us is to consider what role you think you are suitable for.  You need to consider the relevant qualifications and experiences you have to carry out the job you're applying for. To support your application we suggest you read all the web pages and even cast your eye over our brochure.

Once you've thought about what you'd like to apply for, you then need to click the 'Apply' button and fill out the online application form. You should give as much detail about your skills and experiences as possible, relevant to the position you're applying for. It's this that will give you the best chance of being invited to interview.

You must remember to include your passport and national insurance details and all your current contact details including mobile number and e-mail address. The form takes about 30 minutes to complete and once you hit send, you'll receive an email confirming we've received it.

STAGE 2 - Selection

Once you've submitted your application, a member of the recruitment team will review it against our selection criteria for each role. Your application will be handled professionally according to best practice and our commitment to equal opportunities.

If your application meets our criteria then you will be invited to an interview. Timescales on when you may hear from us and be invited to an interview will vary. You will not hear from us if your application is unsuccessful.

STAGE 3 - Assessment

If your application is successful you will be invited to attend an individual interview or assessment day. You'll be notified in advance of the details including time, date, location and how the interview will run.

Individual interviews, on average, last for approximately one hour and are generally held with one of our experienced Recruitment team. An assessment day may last for a half or full day, depending on which position you are applying for. Please ensure you are available for the whole day. If you have any special needs or requirements, please let us know beforehand and we will do our best to accommodate you.

STAGE 4 - Outcome

You will be advised of the outcome of your interview within 7 working days. If successful you will be advised by letter confirming your job offer and next stage. Those who are not successful will also be advised by letter that your interview was unsuccessful at this time.
