Niederau / Oberau activities
Niederau is a small, rustic village spread around the base of its
nursery slopes with a couple of shops and a supermarket, plus a few
bars, cafés and restaurants. Oberau is smaller still, centred around a
pretty church. Evenings in Niederau are relaxed and informal - this is
not a lively resort but there are a few cosy stuberls and bars, some
offering live music and three discos. Oberau is quieter with just a few
bars. Both are fantastic for beginner and intermediate skiers and
boarders but offer little for non-skiers.
Sledging On The Home Run
The
toboggan run on the Schatzberg is 5km long, starting at the middle
station and ending up in the village, all but guaranteeing thrills and
laughter for all ages.
Wildschönau Slow Train
The slow
pace of the Bummelzug Train allows you to take in the views from the
prettiest spots in the Wildschönau Valley. Weekly trips from Oberau to
the Kundl gorge, a stunning icy world.
