You can learn to sail and enjoy a 'taster' of life on flotilla in just one week in the glorious surroundings of the southern Ionian. The town of Nidri is your base for our one week Learn to Sail holiday and is perfectly suited to those new to sailing; offering easy access to beautiful bays and tranquil anchorages.
At the start of your holiday you will move straight onto your yacht, your home for the week. Your yacht will be moored up on the Neilson pontoon in Nidri, close to all of the hotel facilities which you are welcome to enjoy.
For the next three days (Monday - Wednesday) you will learn to sail following the Introduction to Yachting course - a tried and tested way to get you sailing with confidence, whilst covering necessary skills such as navigation, understanding wind direction and conditions, arriving and leaving harbour, tying knots etc. You will also get to experience the fun part of sailing, every day will see you hopping from pontoon to quayside to bay to harbour, stopping for picnics, lunches at remote tavernas and refreshing swims in tranquil bays.
On the fourth day (Thursday) you will set sail sand meet up with the rest of the flotilla, all under the close supervision of a Neilson instructor. This is your chance to consolidate the skills you have learnt during the previous three days.
At the end of the fourth day you will have completed the Introduction to Yachting course which leads to the RYA National Sailing certificate for Keelboats. Your instructor will leave your yacht, confident you have the skills required to join the rest of the flotilla sailing under your own steam for the next two days.
The one week learn to sail price is inclusive of your Introduction to Yachting course. The Introduction to Yachting course will take place on your own yacht or one of our training yachts and at least two people from your yacht must complete the Introduction to Yachting course.
We can also offer the option to upgrade, for a supplement, to bed and breakfast at The Athos Hotel during your training.
