You can learn to sail and enjoy a 'taster' of life on flotilla holidays in just one week in the glorious surroundings of the southern Ionian. The town of Nidri is your base for our one week Learn to Sail holiday and is perfectly suited to those new to sailing; offering easy access to beautiful bays and tranquil anchorages.
Your week onboard
On your arrival day at the start of your holiday you will move straight onto your chosen yacht which will be your home for the week. Your yacht will be moored up on the Neilson pontoon in Nidri, close to all of the hotel facilities which you are welcome to enjoy. We can also offer the option to upgrade, for a supplement, to bed and breakfast at The Athos Hotel during your training.
Learning to sail
For the next three days (Monday - Wednesday) you will learn to sail following the Introduction to Yachting course - one of our tried and tested sailing courses. It is the best way to get you sailing with confidence, whilst covering necessary skills such as navigation, understanding wind direction and conditions, arriving and leaving harbour, tying knots etc. You will also get to experience the fun part of sailing holidays where every day will see you hopping from pontoon to quayside to bay to harbour, stopping for picnics and lunches in remote tavernas and refreshing swims in tranquil bays.
Going on flotilla
On the fourth day (Thursday) you will set sail and meet up with the rest of the flotilla, all under the close supervision of your Neilson instructor. This is your chance to consolidate the skills you have learnt during the previous three days.
At the end of the fourth day you will have completed the Introduction to Yachting course which leads to the RYA National Sailing certificate for Keelboats. Your instructor will leave your yacht, confident you have the skills required to join the rest of the flotilla sailing under your own steam for the next two days.
Sailing experience levels
A minimum of 2 people intending to sail the yacht should be 18 years or over and are required to complete the Introduction to Yachting course, which is a compulsory element of the holiday.
What's included
The one week learn to sail price is inclusive of your Introduction to Yachting course. The Introduction to Yachting course will take place on your own yacht or one of our training yachts and at least two people from your yacht must complete the Introduction to Yachting course. We also include yacht charter and lead boat crew support, flights, transfers, marine insurance, damage waiver and security deposit.
