Our beachclub, in the region of Murcia, south-eastern Spain, is a stylish, modern oasis, designed and built to our own high specifications with superb facilities for all things active or kicking back and taking it easy.

The beachclub enjoys a unique setting on the shores of the Mar Menor, a large coastal saltwater lagoon. The lagoon is great for dinghy sailing but if water sports aren’t your thing, you’ll find some superb road biking in the surrounding hillsides. With over 300 days of sunshine a year and a microclimate that generates consistent thermal winds we think we’ve found the perfect playground; however you choose to unwind.

While the shallow shelving beach is great for all watersports, if relaxation and swimming is your thing, the fabulous pool area is the place to be, with three pools including a toddler pool and a 50m pool that is perfect for swimming laps.

So, whether you’re here to relax or to embrace the many inclusive water and land sports on offer we think you’ll love our Spanish retreat.

Activities on the water

There’s a whole host of inclusive water sports to choose from.  Dinghy sailing, windsurfing, stand up paddle boarding and kayaking are all included and for a little extra you can also join our beginner kitesurfing or dinghy foiling courses.

Our water sports beach is on the shores of the Mar Menor,  Europe’s largest saltwater lagoon with 170 square kilometres of warm, shallow, non-tidal water, providing the feeling of open sea sailing with the security of an enclosed lake. The vast expanse of flat, shallow water creates a perfect learning environment for beginner sailors and windsurfers. The afternoons bring with them a consistent thermal breeze to provide great conditions for those looking to improve their skills.

We'll be running our own kitesurf school offering beginner courses and private tuition, both are available for a supplement.

Experienced dinghy sailors can have a go at dinghy foiling, with half-day taster sessions and a two-day intro course available. Dinghy foiling courses are available for a supplement. When not being used for courses, the equipment is available to use for a supplement on a first-come-first-served basis for experienced sailors who hold a certificate of competence.

If the excitement and adrenaline rush of wind sports isn’t for you, there’s plenty more to keep you occupied with a ready supply of kayaks and stand up paddle boards, both are a great way to explore the lagoon.

Dinghy sailing: Laser Pico, Laser 1, Topper Argo, Dart 16, Laser Bahia, RS Aero, F101 Foiling Dinghies

Windsurfing: a range of beginner and intermediate boards from manufacturers Starboard and RRD. Dino rigs for children (2m-4.5m); start rigs for beginners (2.5m / 3.5m / 4.5m) and adult rigs (4m - 8.2m)

Kayaking and stand up paddle boarding: Gemini single and double sit on top kayaks; Red Paddle Co stand up paddle boards (10'8") and XXL stand up paddle board.

Snorkelling and scuba diving

The Cabo de Palos area of Spain is just 15 minutes’ drive from Mar Menor Beachclub and offers some of the best scuba diving in Europe with fantastic shore, boat and wreck dives.  It is home to the protected Islas Hormigas Marine reserve, considered the best place to dive in Spain, which is an established breeding ground for Grouper, Barracuda, Tuna, Wrasse Eagle Rays and other marine life such as Octopus, Cuttlefish and Squid. There is also diving in Cartagena, where there is a small marine reserve and many dive sites.

The area offers divers of all experience levels great diving and is also a perfect place to learn how to dive. For all our diving we have teamed up with Adventure Divers, they are able to offer everything from snorkelling safaris to PADI dive courses, dice experiences for complete beginners and dive excursions for qualified divers. You’ll be able to chat with and book courses or excursions with Adventure Divers at the welcome meeting. It's best to pre-book your PADI dive courses to guarantee your place.

Wind conditions

With a microclimate that generates consistent, steady thermal breezes the Mar Menor is paradise for sailors. The predominant wind is the Levante blowing from the Mediterranean Sea in an east-north easterly direction. The wind tends to pick up around midday, sometimes to force 3-4.

Activities on the shore

Back on dry land, take your pick from inclusive road cycling, mountain biking, tennis and fitness classes. The road biking is simply excellent with plenty of opportunities to clock up the miles on our guided rides on a huge network of smooth roads that wind through valleys and climb over dramatic mountain landscapes.

The area is no stranger to pro-cyclist training camps and the quality of the rides so good that it has in past years featured in stages of the Vuelta a Espãna. We’ll be hosting some road bike training camps where you can expect to develop your riding, improve endurance, power output and climbing technique – keep a look out for details.

On off-road tracks, mountain bikers will experience everything from short flat rides along dirt tracks to technical challenges in the surrounding hillsides.

At the beachclub, there are four brand new tennis courts with inclusive coaching, suitable for all abilities. If you're a keen player you can get some intensive coaching with the premium tennis pack. With just eight places available you'll get some quality time with the coaches, but we do recommend you pre-book before travel to save your space. There’s also social tennis and free play, plus for a small supplement, you can book super drills or a one-to-one coaching session.

Gym bunnies will be in their element, running between our extensive timetable of classes featuring yoga, HIIT and circuits and the air-conditioned gym with functional fitness space. Did we also mention the morning runs, aqua fitness and swim coaching?

Any golfers out there should know that there are six excellent courses within 10 kilometres of the beachclub. We are partnering with one of the local golf clubs, allowing you to book tee times to fit in around your other activities, we're still working on the finer detail, so check back for more information.

Rest and relaxation

What better way to prep your body for another day on the water, in the saddle or on the courts than with a visit to our calming treatment rooms for a massage to relax aching muscles. If the most exercise you’ve managed to squeeze in is moving from your sun lounger to the pool that’s OK, our therapists are equally happy to pamper you with a facial or manicure. Everybody deserves some ‘me’ time.

Food and drink

You won't go hungry as we include the usual delicious and inclusive daily breakfast and lunch and four evening meals per week. Breakfast is a feast of freshly baked bread and pastries, cereals, muesli, pancakes, eggs cooked to order, delicious preserves, fresh fruits, smoothies, continental cheeses, meats, traditional bacon, sausages and much more. After a busy morning, enjoy a lazy lunch of beautifully prepared salads, grilled meats, fish and locally inspired dishes.

At sunset, there's no better place to be than the rooftop bar for a cocktail or two before heading to the restaurant for your evening meal. The menu focuses on Mediterranean classics, all making the most of fresh, locally sourced produce, with some Neilson favourites and local Spanish specialities to tempt you. You can look forward to a huge array of grilled fish (cooked to order), meats and traditional Spanish dishes plus vegetarian and vegan options and a huge choice of salads and vegetable dishes. For dessert tuck into delicious cakes, puddings, fresh fruits, and ice cream.

There are 146 rooms and two suites, all are stylish and modern with contemporary furnishings, plentiful storage and large private terraces or balconies. You’ll find rooms in one of two u-shaped buildings, the first our 'poolside' rooms are built around the swimming pool and restaurant area and the other our, 'courtside' rooms, are close to the tennis courts.

Rooms are decked out in neutral tones and are split into four categories (economy, club, premium and suites) – all are finished to a very high standard with high-quality bed linen and comfortable beds.

Economy rooms are located next to the restaurant and have limited views. The key difference between club and premium rooms is size, the premium rooms have a seating area with double sofa bed. It is possible to book a ground floor twin or double club room together with a premium room, to create a connecting room that’s perfect for larger groups and families. If you really want to spoil yourself check out one of the suites, decked out in a similar contemporary style but with oodles of space.

Bathrooms are top-notch with modern fittings and large walk-in showers, except the ground floor pool view twin and double rooms which have a shower over the bath.

Each room has air conditioning, fridge, Nespresso coffee machines, telephone, Smart TV, Wi-Fi, safe, bathrobe and slippers, Temple Spa toiletries, beach towels and hairdryer.

Families and kids

This beachclub is just great for families; with a short flight from the UK, a 40-minute transfer to the resort, and inclusive kids' clubs six days per week you’ll soon be into the swing of things.

There’s a full range of action-packed kids’ clubs for all children aged from 2 to 17 years and the Starfish creche for our youngest guests (4-23 months). Make sure your children don’t miss out on the fun and games, pre-book before you go to secure a space in the club for their age group. We also have a selection of Frog bikes for children. These bikes are available to use in and around the beachclub grounds, but cannot be taken outside of the beachclub.

Cots, highchairs, strollers and interconnecting rooms are available, and you can pre-book toddler and baby packs to be waiting for you on arrival, so you can travel a little lighter. There’s also a 24-hour baby room, where you can make feeds, warm milk and sterilise bottles.

Our premium rooms have a single sofa bed suitable for a child, and for larger families, there’s interconnecting rooms and suites (the two-bed suite can sleep up to seven!).

Local area

Mar Menor Beachclub is situated on the shores of the Mar Menor lagoon, close to the small village of Los Urrutias. The village is a 15-minute stroll along the seafront from the beachclub and has a small marina, a handful of restaurants and a small market once per week.

Looking out from the sailing area across the lagoon you can see the cosmopolitan town of La Manga. La Manga is approximately 20 kilometres away and has a lively atmosphere, with a number of excellent restaurants, good shopping and a Sunday morning market.

Cartagena is a history buff’s dream, with one of the most fascinating histories in all of Spain, having been inhabited by a number of civilizations and cultures. Founded around 227BC by the Phoenicians and later the Romans, Byzantines and Moors before finally being settled by the Spanish Christian monarchs.

It’s also home to 12 museums and many monuments. One of the most famous attractions is the Roman theatre, built between the fifth and first centuries BC, you can wander at your own pace or join a guided tour of the theatre. One of the most picturesque buildings in town is the Palacio Consistorial, its façade is made from marble and inspired by French architecture.

When not soaking up the culture and history, you’ll find plenty of restaurants and bars to rest your feet and sample the local tapas.

Los Alcazares

The name of the town of Los Alcazares comes from the Arabic word 'Al Kazar', which means palace or 'house of nobles', buildings that were constructed by the Arabs for their holidays. The Moors discovered the excellent properties of the water of the Mar Menor, which they enjoyed in the ancient Roman baths.

Mud baths

The mud baths at Lo Pagan (30km away) on the northern shores of the Mar Menor lagoon are famous for their therapeutic properties. They are reputed to be good for a number of ailments and are free to use.

Cabo de Palos

Cabo de Palos is the most southerly point on the Mar Menor (20km from Mar Menor Beachclub). The coastline is dominated by an imposing lighthouse and the marina is a hive of activity, with fishing boats bringing in their catch, which you’ll find served up in one of the many great seafood restaurants.

10-night holidays arrive on a Thursday and depart on a Sunday, there’s a welcome meeting on Friday morning for 10-night guests. 11-night holidays arrive on a Sunday and depart on a Thursday, you will join the Monday morning welcome meeting with our 7 and 14-night guests.
