Sharing a massive 300km ski area with Val d’Isère, high-altitude Tignes is renowned for its difficult black runs and accessible off-piste. As the second highest ski resort in Europe, it boasts an excellent snow record, with the imposing Grande Motte glacier providing snowsure skiing above 3,400m.
You’ll find loads of black runs to try, but a there’s a few infamous ones that are a real must. Kicking things off: the formidable La Face, a near vertical but wide 3km descent that will really test your control. For a black run with a view, try the spectacular Aiguille Percee with its dramatic rock formations or head to Grande Motte to take on the black moguls there. And for an all-day endurance feat, ski the Espace Killy Black Run Challenge all the way down to Val Claret.
