Reports to: Yacht Manager/Supervisor

Direct Reports: Yacht Instructors

Job Role Summary

To manage all aspects of delivery of the yacht training programme in accordance with company procedures, the RYA, the Neilson brochure and local regulations. The Chief Instructor will be responsible for the day to day management of training staff and ensuring yachts are set up to Neilson and RYA standards

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Working as part of a team to provide an enjoyable and safe training experience for guests of all ages and abilities (within reason), following the Neilson and RYA programme.

To manage the maintenance and housekeeping of the training yachts, to ensure efficient operation at all times.

To ensure a high standard of safety for guests and staff is maintained at all times.

To maintain effective communication with Yacht Manager.

Ensure training yachts are set up as per company standards and RYA requirements.

To ensure that any changes in the SOPs are communicated to instructors, and that this is documented.

To provide support and guidance to instructors, and provide ongoing training as necessary.

Ensure that all yacht instructors in resort are appropriately qualified.

Co-ordinate paperwork and instructors for all courses.

Provide excellent customer service at all times.

You will be required to be flexible in your job role and may be required to move between different resorts according to operational needs.

These are the main accountabilities however these may vary according to your resort.

Qualifications and Experience required

RYA Yachtmaster Instructor.

First Aid certificate valid for the duration of the contract.

Educated to GCSE standard.

VHF license

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required

Experience of working as part of a small team.

Experience in a leadership role.

Previous customer service experience.

Presentation

Clean and tidy appearance.

Personal Qualities

Ability to solve problems and work under pressure.

Approachable, welcoming, friendly, and enthusiastic.

Able to communicate well with guests and staff of all ages.

Self-motivated.

Flexible.

Punctual.

Organised.
