Job Title: Swim Coach and Lifeguard

Department: Neilson Beach Club

Location: Overseas

Travel Factors: Six months overseas

Reports to: Fitness Instructor/Activity Manager

Job Role Summary

Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain an excellent standard of customer service.

Maintain constant surveillance of activities at the pool to prevent accidents and rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administer first aid as required.

Caution swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards, ensuring all adhere to the pool rules and regulations.

Follows emergency action plan in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures and perform Lifeguard duties in accordance with Greek standards.

Promote and deliver ‘learn to swim’ group sessions and private swimming lessons, and assist the

Fitness Instructor with pool based classes.

Regularly assist with both the Children’s Club and Beach operations.

Work as part of a team to set up, pack up, and proactively provide assistance to all guests each day.

Take personal responsibility for the maintenance, repair and security of Neilson equipment and the satisfactory appearance of Neilson sites to ensure the meeting of guest expectations.

Help organize and host social events, deliver briefings and generally interact with guests at all times.

Be prepared to move between different resorts according to operational needs of the business to fulfil your contractual end date.

Be flexible in your job role and willing to assist in all other duties, within reason, as requested by your manager according to training you have been given.

Qualifications and Experience required

National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent.

Must be valid for the duration of the contract.

ASA/UKCC Level 2 in Teaching Aquatics or Coaching Swimming.

Educated to GCSE standard.

Experience of swim teaching.

Experience of working in a pool environment.

Previous customer service experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required

Ability to react calmly, quickly and effectively in emergency situations.

Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.

Knowledge of emergency First Aid procedures.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Ability to effectively communicate with guests of all ages, management and other staff.

Able to work on own initiative.

Presentation

Clean and tidy appearance.

Personal Qualities

Approachable, welcoming, friendly, and enthusiastic.

Self-motivated.

Flexible.

Punctual.
