Job Role Summary:

As a member of the reception team, you will need to be enthusiastic and able to provide an efficient service within the front office areas of the operation. With a confident and outgoing personality, you will need to work in a productive manner at all times both as a team and individually to ensure the delivery of excellent guest orientated service.

To join the Neilson Active Holidays team, you must be over the age of 18 and in order for us to acquire the necessary legal paperwork required to place you in an overseas position you must:
  • Hold a valid UK, EU, EEA or Swiss passport
  • Hold a UK National Insurance number
  • Currently be registered to a fixed address within England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
PLEASE NOTE: Regrettably, if you are currently registered to a fixed address in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, it is not possible for us to obtain the necessary legal paperwork required to post you overseas at this time.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
  • Customer service - Deliver an efficient service to all guests in a friendly/professional manner, at all times and display excellent customer service and awareness
  • Payment handling - Reconcile and account for all sales and monies during working shifts
  • To be responsible for taking activity bookings
  • Ensure the reception is kept in a professional and appealing manner and in a way that provides efficient service.
  • Liaise with all departments to relay information
  • To be self-motivated to actively learn and develop personal resort/area knowledge
  • Drive sales for all products within the operation
  • Develop positive working relationships within the teams
  • Product knowledge – have an excellent overall knowledge of Neilson product and pro-actively cross-sell our holidays to Neilson guests
  • To be flexible and assist with any additional duties to help with the smooth running of the overseas operation as directed by your line manager
Qualifications and experience required:
  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
  • At least six months experience in a similar role and to be comfortable with all reception duties such as taking bookings, guest contact, cash handling, telephone use and accounting
  • Previous customer service and hospitality experience (preferably within a hotel)
  • Computer literate and capable of learning new programmes/procedures quickly and accurately
  • Experience of working with electronic equipment such as tills and credit card machines
  • A formal hospitality qualification and/ or dedicated administration course (Desirable)
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
  • Good knowledge of customer service, dealing with complaints and problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels within the team and with guests
  • The ability to be an excellent team player with the drive and motivation to work independently to achieve all set targets
  • Capable of using Word and Excel to produce notices, signs etc
  • To be flexible with work hours and willing to assist in all areas of the operation
  • Comfortable dealing with money and the daily accounting
  • To deliver a consistently high level of service & standards that meets the guest expectations
