The Ferienhof is only a small chalet hotel (23 rooms) but it's instantly welcoming and has a distinct Austrian charm. The furniture is solid wood and often so are the walls and ceiling panels, all with beautifully carved, mountain-life inspired details.

Between the hotel's bar and small wellness area, you'll find yourself relaxing in no time. The après-ski gets going once the slopes empty and the atmosphere is fun yet laid-back. Being Austria, it calms down around dinner, just in time to enjoy a hearty evening meal in the dining room.

The hotel sits in a great location. You're close enough to the improved high-speed Penken gondola and lively nightlife (about a 5-8min walk), but tucked away on a quiet street ensuring a restful night's sleep.

About the resort...

Mayrhofen has a well-deserved reputation for being a great all-rounder. The slopes are seemingly endless (over 500kms in the area) as is the nightlife, the lift system is quick, the terrain is diverse and there really is something for everyone.

The resort is typically Austrian with multi-coloured buildings running along the largely car-free resort centre. You'll soon find a bar that suits your mood. The range goes from full on Jaeger-bombing to laid-back traditional oompah and everything in-between.

Don't miss a visit to the White Lounge ice bar on the Ahorn mountain. Pull up an ice seat at an ice table in the crazily lit bar, or head out to the sea of sun-loungers with your drink and work on removing your goggle tan.

The resort also plays host to some pretty big events. The Altitude Comedy Festival sees top comedy acts (John Bishop, Sean Lock, Marcus Brigstocke etc) fighting it out for laughs on and off the slopes. Snowbombing music festival is held in various venues and hotels in Mayrhofen. It can be quite full-on so we don't really recommend it for families.

Rest and relaxation

The 500km+ ski area can take it's toll as it's such a fun, cruisy area. If you need some TLC to make sure you can get out on the slopes the next day, head to the sauna, steam room and cold room to get the blood pumping around any aching muscles.

There's even a small treatment room with a good choice of sports and beauty therapies. Take a look at the massage and body treatment menu for information and prices.

Food and drink

Our chalet board basis is designed for skiers and boarders. Breakfast is a fairly extensive affair with cooked and continental options every day. Your daily afternoon tea of freshly baked cakes and biscuits will be waiting for you when you come in from the slopes.

Evening meals are a three-course set-menu with regionally inspired dishes and served with complimentary wine, all followed by fresh coffee. We provide evening meals on six nights a week leaving you free to head out and explore the resort on one evening.

Rooms

The 23 rooms are a really good size with plenty of natural light. There's a good choice of room sizes sleeping between two and six people, including two suites which have their own kitchen and dining area; perfect for larger families. Every room has a balcony, most of which have superb scenic views. You'll also find luxurious Temple Spa toiletries in each bathroom.

Most of the beds here are Austrian twins. These are two separate matresses and bed linen on one large bed frame with a common headboard.

Equipment hire service

When you pre-book equipment hire with us, the hire shop will provide a minibus to take you to the shop, get kitted out then they'll drop you back at the hotel with your rental gear. Nice and easy.

Neilson Mountain Experts

Don’t forget that you get free guiding and coaching throughout the week from fully qualified ski and board instructors with our Mountain Expert service.

Designed for confident blue and red-run skiers and snowboarders, they'll show you around the mountain on free guiding sessions, and even offer free coaching sessions to help you become a more confident skier or snowboarder.

There are at least three sessions a week and we guarantee each guest at least two sessions a week. Your hosts will explain how it works when you get there.
