The Hotel Alpin Juwel was just built a few years ago in 2012 and is located right on the slopes just above Hinterglemm. It has its very own lift that will take you from the hotel smack dab into the village centre in about a minute.
The impressive facilities are sure to wow you - a panoramic restaurant and a rooftop wine bar as well as a heated outdoor pool and a free children's club for families.
The spa here is particularly luxurious. Besides that lovely outdoor pool, there's also an indoor pool, various saunas and steam rooms and there's even a yoga master from Sri Lanka on hand.
If you're after a drink at the end of the day, you'll be spoilt for choice between the hotel bar, the rooftop wine bar and the cocktail bar. There's also live music three times a week to accompany your well-earned après drink. There are also three restaurants to choose from, with an open kitchen that lets you in on the process.

About the resort
Saalbach and Hinterglemm are two pretty villages that sit in Austria's largest ski area; the Ski Circus. It has the name because the slopes literally surround you. There's 270km of picturesque red and blue runs with mountain huts dotted all around. This place was just made for the mile-hungry intermediate skier or boarder.
If you want to attempt a full circuit in one day then you'll need to get up early. Or try the long run over to Leogang for lunch to check that your legs are up to it. If you're more advanced, there are some steep blacks and moguls under the Shattberg Express gondola and the freeriding is some of the best in Austria!
The après-ski is a genuine Austrian experience and starts on the mountain at about 3pm. Saalbach is the livelier of the two villages and you can keep going until the early hours if you have got the pace.

Rest and relaxation
The wellness and spa offering here is nothing short of stunning. The entire hotel is based on the philosophy that 'mens sana in corpore sano'; a healthy mind in a healthy body. That flows from the food through to the impressive facilities.
The 1000m2 Alpinveda Spa includes a beauty area, four different saunas, an indoor pool, an infinity outdoor pool, three different relaxing rooms as well as Yoga and gym facilities.
There's also an Ayurveda spa (the Indian art of healing), complete with a therapist from Sri Lanka who manages the daily Yoga training in the morning and offers treatments of special Ayurveda massages throughout the rest of the day. Quite a unique offering for the Austrian Alps!
Food and drink
The half board meals at Alpin Juwel are all extensive and include a hot and cold buffet breakfast until 11am, but for the late sleepers out there, they offer an a la carte 'late sleeper' breakfast from 11am to 12pm.
There are also daily hot and cold après-ski snacks, and finally, a six-course evening meal, which includes a tasty salad buffet.
All 78 rooms at the Hotel Alpin Juwel are spacious and full of natural light. They come in a choice of two styles - the Kristall rooms are very traditional in style, while the Rubin rooms are a bit more contemporary, with stripped pinewood and luxe décor. All of the rooms come with balconies, so no worries about missing those mountain views!
The rooms also come with free Wi-Fi, flat screen TVs, a minibar, a mini-safe, a hairdryer and super comfy bathrobes and slippers, and a full ensuite.
Families and kids
The hotel runs its own kids' club for kids aged 3 and over. It's available Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm. The kids may have more fun than you as the list of activities includes tobogganing, games, arts & craft and more. There's also a teenagers' games room with a Wii and Playstation.
