Sophisticated Baqueira Beret is located in the Aran valley in the Pyrénées. It is part of the province of Lleida and is approximately a three hour transfer from Lleida airport. The resort extends across three distinct ski areas: Baqueira, Beret and Bonaigua; which have a combined ski area of 120km.
Baqueira Beret isn’t the prettiest, like Tignes, the main base at 1500m dates from the sixties ski boom, but Tanau at 1700m, where the Spanish Royal family resides whilst holidaying here, is unquestionably cool. The resort boasts long, immaculately groomed runs for all standards but the real beauty of the terrain lies in the many off-piste variations on offer from almost every marked run.
Most of the runs are set up for intermediate skiers but beginners will love learning to ski on some fantastic nursery slopes just above Baqueira. Beret also has it’s own nursery slopes and can easily be reached by chairlift from Baqueira.
For those who are more experienced there are plenty of challenging red runs and if you head to Cap de Baqueira you’ll find some steep, narrow black runs too. If you’re a snowboarder then you’ll be able to enjoy the varied terrain or spend time in Beret’s terrain park.
