Mission Impossible
Prepare and hide clues. Write a ransom note to let you child(ren) explaining their favourite toy or treasure has been captured by pirates. Get the kids to solve the mission and follow the clues around the house and/or garden. Cryptic clues can be used for older children, younger children will need visual clues.
Port and Starboard
A great game to play for wannabe sailors. Use chalk to draw the outline of a boat outside on the drive or patio or create the shape inside using cushions/pillows. Tell the kids the following instructions when they have to follow when you shout them out:
Port Touch the left side of the boat Starboard Touch the right side of the boat Bow Touch the front of the boat Stern Touch the back of the boat Sweep the decks Pretend to sweep the floor To the lifeboats Jump out of the boat and sit down Climb the rigging Act out a climbing motion Crow’s nest Make binoculars with hands and look out to sea Boat’s sinking Start swimming! Captain’s coming Stand to attention and salute
