Soldeu & El Tarter ski holidays

Soldeu and El Tarter in Andorra sit at the heart of a wonderful, 210km ski area called the Grandvalira. With 114 runs to choose from, the mountains here have plenty of tree-lined runs and are very picturesque, particularly at sunset.

Largely undiscovered, the area is actually one of the best places to go if you're an intermediate looking to further your skills. It's also ideal for beginners as the slopes are wide, fun and safe - perfect for making your first turns on the snow.

2019/20 saw a new lift linking the Peretol area and its advanced level Sunset freestyle park into the main Grandvalira area. Previously only accessed by car or bus, skiers and boarders can now ski to get some serious air!

Being able to ski from 1710m right up to 2590m provides some pretty reliable snow conditions and Andorra often has snow when other resorts around Europe are struggling.

The two villages are a couple of kilometres apart and have very different feels, but both are laid-back, friendly and have great access to the slopes.

Cruising the slopes of Grandvalira

On the mountain

Soldeu & El Tarter are home to one of the best native English speaking ski schools in Europe. They’ll transform nervous beginners into confident skiers and boarders in no time. There's even an entire area dedicated to beginners to learn in safety.

The speedy and advanced can also choose from a range of classes and clinics, all set in the fantastic, 210km Grandvalira area. Hit the slopes before everyone else with our unique First Trax sessions; a one hour guided tour of the closed slopes, before the lifts open.

The wonderful range of nine green runs (or practice slopes for beginners), 25 blue runs, 18 red runs and 11 world-class black slopes are all expertly maintained, and the safe terrain make this perfect for exploring on your own or with a guide.

Soldeu off the mountain

An enchanting village that combines modern development with traditional mountain style, and being only small, everything is ultra-convenient. If you’re keen to give your ski legs a rest but still enjoy the slopes, you can’t miss taking a husky sled ride to truly explore the mountains. For a change of pace, hit the Sport Wellness Spa to unwind and recharge those batteries ready for another day on the slopes.

The après scene in Soldeu is fun and as lively as you want it to be. There's a handful of excellent restaurants serving traditional mountain and international cuisine as well as live music in many of the small & friendly bars each afternoon.

Aberset bar

El Tarter off the mountain

El Tarter has a more laid back feel with just a couple of après and night time bars and restaurants. Head to the Neilson Hotel del Clos bar with its small but very tasty selection of cocktails! L'Aberset bar straight off the slopes has a pretty lively atmosphere up until about 8pm. DJ's play sets both indoors and outdoors and you can't miss trying the tapas!

If the El Tarter vibe is just a little too chilled, there are thrills and spills just a few minutes’ bus ride away. The snow tubes at Grau Roig are a great way to keep the adrenaline pumping when you’re away from the piste. For shopping, activities, events and more Andorra’s capital, Andorra la Vella, is just a 30-minute bus ride away.

Food & drink in Soldeu & El Tarter

Fantastic food isn’t in short supply in Soldeu and El Tarter. Fat Alberts in Soldeu has built itself a solid reputation for feeding hungry skiers. As you might expect, the portions are large, but a day burning calories on the slopes more than makes up for any over-indulgence.

Dylan’s Chill Out Bar in El Tarter has a modern and contemporary feel with a menu chock full of flavour to match. The cocktails are worth a mention, and, if you’re hungry, the mammoth American-style sandwiches are a feast.

Delbosc Coffee Shop in Soldeu is the perfect pit stop for a quick snack before you get back on the slopes. The homemade cakes keep skiers coming back for more and the vegan milk options go down a storm!
