Our guests come back to the Motxo (pronounced mot-show) year after year because of its warm and homely appeal. Like the neighbouring Neilson Chalet Hotel Casale, it's constructed from local stone and wood which gives it a really traditional mountain chalet feel, as does the grandfather clock and comfy leather sofas in the small lounge area.

It's a really spacious chalet too, with oodles of natural light throughout, high ceilings with chunky wooden beams and nicely sized bedrooms, all with plenty of storage.

You'll find quaint touches all around the chalet, like the ornate mountain flower murals and equally ornate old cast iron radiators, all of which add a classic continental feel. Each bedroom has ensuite facilities and some of them also have a balcony with far-reaching views across the resort and slopes.

About the resort

El Tarter is part of the massive 210km Grandvalira ski area. The snow conditions are good throughout the season (obviously warmer in spring) but you'll often see amazing snow in Andorra when the rest of Europe is struggling.

It's also home to one of the best ski schools in Europe too. They'll transform nervous beginners into confident improvers in no time. The speedy and advanced can also choose from a range of classes and clinics to push skills to the limit.

El Tarter is a really laid-back mountain town. Après is low-key with a few bars to choose from. L'Aberset bar straight off the slopes is pretty lively until about 8pm. Or head to the nearby Neilson Hotel Del Clos bar to carry on the party feel.

Not only is El Tarter a good choice for all levels of skier and snowboarder, the resort lends itself to those looking to enjoy a more chilled-out week.

Evening meals are a three-course set-menu with regionally inspired dishes and free-flowing wine throughout the week, all followed by fresh coffee. We provide evening meals on six nights a week leaving you free to head out and explore the resort on one evening.

Rooms

The chalet sleeps up to 24 people in 11 large, light and simply furnished rooms. Most rooms are twins but there are two triples and each has its own ensuite with a shower and wc. You'll also find luxurious Temple Spa toiletries in each bathroom.
