The ski-in ski-out Rila sits in the best location in Borovets. You're at the foot of the slopes, next to the lifts and a minute from the resort centre. This also makes the views from the hotel pretty special too.
The hotel has just gone through a major renovation to most of its public areas which includes a new bar, dining areas and expanded spa facilities. A free-to-use bigger than usual swimming pool means you can easily fit in some laps.
The Rila is perfect for families thanks to a range of kids' clubs for one to seven year olds on offer. There's also so much space around that kids will be able to move freely and find their own corner to hang out with new found friends.
The spa and wellness area is pretty impressive. The pool and hot tubs are free to use but everything else is payable locally. The spa has a unique fish spa for the adventurous out there, and a sauna and steam room for those who get a bit squeamish at the idea of fish nibbling at your toes!

About the resort
Borovets is a bustling resort sat amongst the stunningly gorgeous pine forests of the Rila Mountains. It's particularly well-suited to beginners, improvers and families as it has wide-open slopes, fantastic coaching from friendly, English-speaking instructors and a dedicated kids ski area. There's also night skiing if you don't get your fill during the day.
Off the mountain, the resort is fairly compact and has two main pedestrianised areas that are jam-packed with cafés, bars, live music venues, tourist shops and more. It's quite the bustling marketplace.
You can't come to Bulgaria without trying an evening meal in a Mehana - a traditional Bulgarian tavern with fantastic local food and entertainment. Also, don't miss taking a traditional horse and cart trip around the resort, or head into the nearby town of Samokov for a taste of authentic Bulgaria - all for incredible value.
