Kitesurfing

Have you ever watched people kitesurfing with ease and thought 'I want some of that'? Well now you can. Come and learn with us in the warm water of Sardinia and Lemnos. Both of these islands have superb conditions for kitesurfing and great weather too.

At a glance...
  • Learn to kitesurf in Sardinia or Lemnos
  • Great for experienced kitesurfer's too
  • Non-inclusive activity
  • Pre-book the intro to kitesurfing course in Lemnos for £275pp
  • Book locally in Sardinia

The water is warm and clear, the sun is shining and the wind blowing - just perfect for your first time. As kitesurfing has origins in so many other water sports, you should find some aspects of the sport relatively easy to pick up - even snowboarders will find similarities.

Learn to kitesurf

You'll start by learning to fly the kite whilst on the beach, getting used to the motion of the kite so that once you're on the water you can control where you're going.

You'll also learn how to launch and land the kite, experience a technique called 'body dragging' (basically kitesurfing without the board - it's a lot of fun).

Finally you'll bring the board and kite together on the water. From the moment you launch your first kite and skim across the water, you'll be hooked.

Kitesurfing in Sardinia

Take a holiday to Baia dei Mori Beachclub and if the conditions are right, you can book an intro to kitesurfing session with one of the local kitesurfing schools. There are schools at two nearby beaches, La Caletta and San Teodoro, both are around a 30-minute drive away.

One of the Neilson team will be on hand to help you make arrangements, but as this is not a Neilson activity, it is subject to availability and is very much wind dependent.

If you can already kitesurf and plan to go it alone, you'll need to be qualified to IKO or BKSA level 2 or 3 (safety cover can be organised locally).

Kitesurfing in Lemnos

At Portomyrina Palace Beachclub you'll be able to book intro lessons (before you travel) or hire kit from a local kitesurf school. Lessons are available for a supplement of £275 per person and are taken off site at Keros Beach (approx. 30 minutes away). Keros Beach is a great place to learn with a large safe bay, shallow water and a sandy bottom.

If you can already kitesurf, you can hire kit (or bring your own) and go kitesurfing at Keros Beach. You'll need to have IKO or BKSA level 2 or 3 qualifications. Safety cover can be arranged with the school.

Please note that the kitesurf school we use on Lemnos closes on 1 October.
