Experienced sailors will love the end of season delivery trip. It's the last time this summer our boats will be sailing in the north Ionian, so jump on board while you still can!
You'll cram quite a lot into this week long flotilla. Following a one-way route you'll be sailing our fleet of yachts from their summer base in the north to their winter home at Vounaki Beachclub in the south Ionian.
The journey is varied, taking in coastal cruising and island hopping with a few long legs thrown in for good measure. The delivery trip will start on the 24th September from the Retreat Beachclub, arriving at Vounaki Beachclub in the south one week later.
Your flotilla route
This flotilla route will give you a flavour of what to expect from your week on flotilla, it's not fixed however and may vary from that listed below (nm = nautical miles).
Arrive at Retreat Beachclub in the north Ionian. Get settled onto your boat and receive your delivery trip briefing from the lead crew (from 5pm).
It's a bit of a gentle sail for your first morning on flotilla to the mainland town of Platarias. Grab a bite at one of the excellent restaurants or lounge on the white sandy beaches.
Heading south to the idyllic island of Paxos, your final destination of the day is the town of Lakka. In a sheltered horseshoe inlet, it's a good spot to moor up for the night.
Still exploring Paxos, the flotilla sets of on the short hop to Gaios. We recommend heading in early, there's lots of people watching to be done in the waterfront cafés.
Leaving the north, you'll set sail for the longest leg of the journey to Preveza Town on the mainland.
Heading to the island of Meganissi, you'll arrive in a picture postcard bay with beautifully clear water and a smattering of waterside tavernas.
The final leg of the flotilla and you'll be heading to the mainland and Vounaki Beachclub. Explore along the way, but be back at base by 6pm.
The yacht check out time is 9.30am. If you have time before you catch your flight, you're free to make us of the facilities at Vounaki Beachclub and if you've the energy for more, try out a few activities (small supplement, payable locally).
Arrival and departure info
The flotilla boats at Retreat Beachclub (north Ionian) will be ready from five pm on your arrival day. Once settled on board, the Neilson crew will give an individual boat briefing. If you arrive after 7.30pm the crew will give a short briefing on essentials such as lights, loos and gas with a full briefing the following morning.
At the end of the delivery flotilla, all boats will need to be back at Vounaki Beachclub (south Ionian) yacht pontoon before 6pm on the final sailing day, and vacated by 9.30am on the day of departure.
Before you're let loose on one of our yachts, we need to know you can sail. You'll need at least two people who have sailed before and are over 18 years of age, and one will need a piece of paper to prove they can sail.
Our sailing holidays include damage waiver, marine insurance and fuel, plus we don't ask for a security deposit. There's a few bits we don't include in your holiday, such as mooring fees. If you do need to pay it's usually just a few Euros per night.
Stay and sail
If you'd like to go on a sailing holiday but don't have the experience, our stay and sail holidays might be just the thing. Exclusive to Retreat and Vounaki Beachclubs, we can get you to the right level of experience or even a qualification (if you prefer) during a week of yacht training in one of these two beachclubs. You can join the flotilla in the second week relaxed, fresh and experienced.
