Couple's activity holidays to Croatia
Croatia’s the place to mix a holiday packed with activities, culture and breathtaking natural scenery. After a morning swim in our 50m swimming pool, couples can head into the nearby Paklenica National Park. Adventures here can be as fast-paced as you want them to be. Hike, bike or climb the 95km² of wild terrain before heading back to our private beach to catch a sunset.
Adventurous couples can learn to windsurf or dinghy sail together, or paddle around the bay on paddle boards and kayaks.
Of course, every couples’ holiday needs those luxurious pampering and relaxation moments too. Our Alana Beach Club spa has a specially designed couples room where you can enjoy treatments - or relax in the hot tub, saunas or hydromassage whirlpool.
What's the weather like in Croatia?
The coastline of Croatia has a lovely, sunny climate throughout the summer months, making it a no-brainer for your next family beach or activity holiday. Expect to see the sunshine for around 10-12 hours per day with temperatures in the mid to high 20s, reaching into the 30s in July and August. May and September bring more manageable temperatures - though the sea will feel a little cooler.
June, July and August tend to offer the most predictable conditions. The breeze at Alana Beach Club typically picks up after lunch, when beginners and intermediate sailors can take advantage of the on-shore cross winds on most days.

One of the best known World Heritage Sites is Diocletian's Palace in the heart of the city of Split. The Roman era palace is 30,000m² in size and one of the area's main draws. Split is a buzzing town and well worth a day's exploration. We can arrange a taxi from Alana and have you there in around 1 hour 45 minutes. While you're there, split's seafront is worth discovering. Flanked by the Old Town, the promenade has magnificent views.
Eating like a local
Holidays in Croatia offer plenty of downtime too, so why not enjoy some mouth-watering local food and wine? We love the Italian influences and sun-drenched Mediterranean produce.
You’ll find at least 1 excellent pizzeria in most towns, and an ever-changing menu if you travel around. Each region has its own take on the country's food. In coastal spots, you’ll find seafood with a twist. Fish is generally served grilled, but you’ll also spot salad and black risotto made using black ink from the squid.
Meat tends to be grilled or baked over open wood fires or charcoal BBQs. Any diner will love fritule - deep-fried dough balls with a touch of lemon and schnapps to liven them up. They are sweet, moreish and found on most coastal menus. Wherever you eat, try Croatian wines - family-run vineyards produce excellent wines.

We had an amazing holiday at Alana beach club! We stayed in a cabin right on the waterfront which was fabulous, the rooms were a good size, very clean, big veranda to sit out on and great air con in the rooms. The restaurant had everything you could want, they catered well for dietary requirements. The activities were fantastic, I did a sailing course and my partner did mountain biking, but we also found time for kayaking and hiking together or just chilling by the pool. One of the best parts was the kids club, our daughter has complex needs so we used the 1:1 service which was perfect. Kaycee was amazing and made sure Ava was able to join in with all the activities or tailoring them to suit. It gave us the ability to enjoy time as a couple while she was being looked after but also so quality family time too. The 2 evenings of babysitting were great to go out and explore the nearby town. Fantastic holiday all round and we will be going back soon!

Visited Alana beach club last week. The flight out was early! But it means arriving in the sun and at the hotel before lunch. Greeted with a choice of drinks and shortly into a delicious meal before checking in to our room and getting settled. Usual Neilson welcome meeting and booking activities, improved this year by an on line planner which is kept up to date through the week.
Our room was not large but it had everything we needed, a food selection of temple spa toiletries provided, clean towels most days and plenty of hot water. The bed was comfortable and plenty of sockets!
Enjoyed yoga everyday, several spin classes, mountain and e-bike rides and walked out through the national park. The pool areas and bar and great places to relax and we mostly found a sun bed when we wanted one.
Enjoyed spa treatments (body scrub for me and massage for him) the spa team were lovely.
Included meals offered a good choice, plenty being cooked to order, always a huge salad bar and pizza at lunch time. Vege options available and some great additions for vegan choices with smoothies, smashed avocado and chia pudding at breakfast.
Many things we didn’t try in just a week so we will just have to go back again!
