Neilson Chalet Motxo, El Tarter
Guests return to Chalet Motxo (pronounced mot-show) year after year for its warm welcome, traditional charm and home-from-home feel. Built from local stone and wood, this characterful mountain retreat is full of authentic touches, from comfy leather sofas and a classic grandfather clock to ornate murals and vintage cast-iron radiators. Cosy bedrooms all come with ensuite facilities, and some offer balconies with sweeping views across the resort and surrounding slopes.

Around the resort
While skiing is the main event, El Tarter offers plenty to enjoy away from the slopes. Spend lazy afternoons on sun-soaked terraces and at stylish mountain bars, soaking up the resort's laid-back après scene. Or venture to nearby L'Abarset when you're in the mood for something livelier. And, thanks to Andorra's duty-free status, a spot of shopping is practically part of the itinerary.

Perfect post-ski treat
There’s nothing quite like coming back to the chalet to freshly baked cakes and biscuits. Afternoon tea is served daily, giving you the perfect excuse to warm up, refuel and put your ski-booted feet up after a day on the mountain.
Aperitif or Après
What's your tipple
The Motxo keeps things peaceful, so for a pre-dinner drink or post-piste tipple, you’ll head next door. Join fellow Neilson guests at the Chalet Hotel Casale or the Hotel Del Clos, where there’s evening entertainment too, or a short stroll into the village for that cosy bar feel. Whether it’s a drink to toast the day on the slopes or a nightcap before bed, there’s a spot to suit.

The skiing
Grandvalira ski area
As part of the impressive 210km Grandvalira ski area, El Tarter puts you right in the heart of the largest ski domain in the Pyrenees. With seven interconnected sectors to explore, there's an enormous amount of skiing on offer, from wide-open cruisers to more challenging terrain. Snow conditions are typically strong throughout the season and regularly rival those found in some of the Alps' most well-known resorts.
Whether you're clipping into skis for the first time or looking to fine-tune your technique, Grandvalira's renowned ski school has something for everyone. Beginners can build confidence with expert instruction, while more experienced skiers and snowboarders can take advantage of specialist clinics and advanced coaching.
Away from the slopes, El Tarter offers plenty of opportunities to slow the pace. Venture out on a husky sled ride, explore the snowy landscapes by snowmobile, or head to nearby Canillo and take on one of the longest zip lines in the Pyrenees.
From the chalet, the Nordic Sports hire shop and nearest chairlift are around 350m away, making it quick and easy to get your ski day underway. If you've pre-booked tuition, the Grandvalira ski school meeting point is located at the top of the gondola.
