Retreat Beachclub sits amongst the hillsides of the Greek mainland, close to the pretty harbour town of Sivota. Around every corner, the breath-taking, panoramic views across the Ionian Sea are revealed in their full glory, as the rooms, bar and restaurant are perched high above a sheltered bay and an array of beaches.

We have a new format at the Retreat Beachclub, designed with Active Families and Adults in mind. There are new facilities galore and an exciting activity programme that plays to the strengths of this ever-popular beachclub for you to enjoy. The Neilson team will be running the watersports, cycling, tennis and fitness programme, whilst our partners, Powered by Playitas, run the hotel and hospitality side.

The beachclub has equipment for children aged eight and over so they can enjoy the activities with their families, be it tennis rackets or paddles for smaller hands, or bikes for shorter legs, we will be able to get you all active together! We also have family sessions for children aged eight and over to enjoy with their families, whilst those aged 13 and over can join in with any group tuition they prefer.

We're taking fitness to the next level with facilities that are unparalleled across our beachclub programme. There’s a superb, fully-equipped air-conditioned gym and studio, outdoor functional fitness area, outdoor yoga platform and a shaded amphitheatre for group classes. We’ll be making the most of these facilities with up to 15 classes per day including yoga, interval training, spin and TRX.

You can also try Padel tennis. This fun, sociable (and easier) alternative to tennis is making its debut here, generally played in doubles, it’s quick to get the hang of and a great way to meet new people.

Down at the waterfront, a collection of beaches forms the watersports area. Here you can take a dip in the turquoise water, grab a kayak or stand up paddle board and head off around the coves and off-shore islands. There’s very little wind and the sheltered, flat water makes excellent conditions for water skiing, wakeboarding and wakesurfing, it’s the perfect place to have a go. Windsurfers and dinghy sailors won’t find the wind they need here, so head to one of our other beachclubs where the wind conditions are ideal for all your sailing and windsurfing adventures.

You’re sure to work up quite an appetite after all the activity, so head on over to our restaurant and new alfresco dining area where you can choose from an extensive variety of local, healthy, Mediterranean food. With flexible dining, you choose the board basis that suits you - half board (breakfast and lunch) or full board.

If road riding is your thing, there are some great long rides, how does 80km of rolling coastal road with inland climbs and long descents to Parga and back sound?

If you've got cycling shoes with cleats and are planning on bringing them with you, we advise that you should also bring your own pedals. That way, they are guaranteed to fit.

There are three tennis courts with plenty of inclusive coaching from the tennis team for all abilities and free play too. The three padel courts are brand new, play is mainly in doubles format and the whole court is used, meaning that the ball is always in play. The rules are broadly the same as tennis and groups of mixed age and abilities can easily play together. Organised padel sessions with one of our coaches are included in the cost of your holiday, but there is a small supplement for free play sessions. There is also a multisport court for basketball and 5-a-side football. We provide a selection of adult and child rackets from Babolat.

Activities on the water

Water skiing, wakeboarding and wakesurfing

This is one of our most popular beachclubs for water skiing and wakeboarding and it's easy to see why. The bay is sheltered, and the water is nice and flat, so there's no excuse not to get out there and give it a go. Whether it’s your first time or your 100th time we’ll make sure you get the most from your time behind the boat.

Our ski teams can get busy, so if you want to guarantee your slots then it's always best to pre-book. If you’re going to be spending a lot of time behind the boat, why not pre-book the premium pack? Your daily session with our ski coaches will enable you to learn or progress your skills. The team will try to book your slots when the conditions are best so you can really get the most out of every session. The premium pack will also give you enough time to try a bit of everything, even wakesurfing. With the premium pack you’ll get six 15-minute tows for just £175 per person.
If this is your first time or you just want to have a dabble, the standard pack is just what you need. You'll get three 10-minute tows for just £60 per person. That's more than enough time for beginners to master the basics, or for those with more experience to get just get out there to experience what it's all about again. Our ski teams will be on hand to help you through your first steps or progress onto the next.
Equipment: Ski Nautique 206 and 211 with a range of skis, boards, mono skis, wakesurfing boards and wake skates.

Kayaking and paddle boarding

The Retreat Beachclub is a perfect teaching and learning environment, and we will be offering our own paddle tuition sessions throughout the week. Kayakers and paddle boarders will love exploring the small offshore islands, caves and rocky coastline.

Equipment: Gemini single and double sit on top kayaks; closed cockpit kayaks; sea kayaks; Canadian canoes; Red Paddle Co stand up paddle boards (10'8") and XXL stand up paddle board (8 man).

Wind conditions

The typical wind force ranges from 1-2 all season, with calm waters most of the time - perfect for paddle sports, water skiing and wakeboarding.

Food and drink

There are several dining and drinking spaces including a new alfresco area to the restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious meal while soaking up the sea views. As with all other areas of the beachclub, the views from the restaurant and pool bar are lovely. The pool bar is a good meeting point and is always a hive of activity with people chatting about the day over a coffee, cocktail or beer.

New at the Retreat we have flexible dining. You choose the board basis to suit you with half board (breakfast and lunch) and full board available. Full board is available for a supplement of £95 per week for 15 years and over and £45 per week for 2-14 years. Whichever you choose you'll find locally sourced produce focussing on Mediterranean classics and plenty of it too.

The rooms are light and bright, all have a balcony or terrace and most have great views over the Ionian Sea. Garden rooms are shady and peaceful, while hotel rooms are located closer to the restaurant. There are also some premium rooms; built recently, they have a contemporary design with modern furnishings.

Choose from twin, double, triple, family or interconnecting rooms. Each has a shower, air conditioning, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone, TV, safe, hairdryer and beach towels. There is free Wi-Fi in the public areas and in most of the rooms.

Tourist taxes are payable by you when you check out of your beachclub accommodation. Charges vary by destination and are currently between €1.50- €4 per room per night (prices correct as of August 2019 and subject to change). Taxes for children are age-dependent. To find out the most up to date tourist taxes for this beachclub please contact us.

Families and children

Families, especially those with older children will love the sports facilities. Sporty kids will enjoy the watersports, cycling and fitness. Older teens will enjoy the low-key town of Sivota.

We’ve moved away from the usual range of children's clubs, lunchtime and evening care at Retreat Beachclub. Instead, there’s a focus on activities for families to do together. Our activity team will organise a jam-packed programme of family-friendly paddle board, kayak, cycling and tennis sessions for you and your children to enjoy with each other. We will be providing equipment suitable for children aged eight and over so that they can join you on the tennis courts, paddle boards and bikes; while children aged 13 and over can join the adult teaching sessions.

If you love to get active together as a family or don't mind taking time out from the activities to enjoy some downtime with the kids, then this is the place for you.

There are lots of steps at the Retreat, so bear this in mind if you're travelling with babies and toddlers. The beaches are sandy, and children will love the warm, shallow water. There's also a good choice of rooms for families, including interconnecting and premium rooms.

Local area

You'll love this lovely part of mainland Greece. The small village of Sivota is a 10-minute walk (heading home is uphill, so may take a little longer!). There's a laid back atmosphere with a great choice of bars and restaurants. Take a walk along the harbour front where you'll see visiting yachts and the local fishing boats bobbing about.

Parga is close by, a little more touristy than Sivota, but still worth a visit. As well as a 14th-century Venetian castle, it's got some great restaurants, cafés and shops. We organise a coach trip to Parga on one of the non-inclusive evenings.

Further afield, boat trips are available to Paxos and Antipaxos. Gaios on Paxos is an exquisite miniature world, with quaint 19th-century houses lining narrow, cobbled lanes. The smaller island of Antipaxos is equally special with beautiful remote beaches and little coves.
