Discover Italy’s secret coast and get away from it all at Airone Beachclub, located in the sun-drenched region of Calabria (the arch of Italy's boot).
The beach, a short stroll (150m) through fragrant pine trees is lovely - a long expanse of golden sand, lapped by the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea. Here, you'll be able to make the most of the watersports kit and large sailing area or find a quiet spot to watch the world go by.
The main building, and the hub of the beachclub, is built in the style of a grand old villa; pretty pastels contrast against vibrant blues of the sky and colourful gardens dotted with palm trees and pergolas. There’s heaps of space on the beach and on the water to make the most of our water sports kit, while back on dry land we’ll be adding four new tennis courts and a new fitness deck.
At Airone Beachclub, the Neilson activity and child care team will be there to look after you, whilst our Italian partners look after the hotel and hospitality.
Gentle breezes that build throughout the day make the perfect environment to learn and progress your sailing and windsurfing skills. The sparkling, turquoise waters are great for kayaking and stand up paddle boarding with a long stretch of coastline to put your paddle skills to the test.
Airone has two separate pools, a large freeform pool that’s great for swimming with an area marked for lane swimming and a children’s splash pool. The children’s splash pool is situated away from the main pool close to the other kids’ club facilities.
Windsurfing: a range of beginner, intermediate and shortboards from manufacturers Starboard, Fanatic, RRD. Dino rigs for children; start rigs for beginners and adult rigs
Kayaking and stand up paddle boarding: Gemini single and double sit on top kayaks; Red Paddle Co stand up paddle boards and XXL stand up paddle board (8 man).
The wind typically picks up around midday, blowing cross on-shore most days. The typical wind force ranges from 2-3 in the afternoon with the most consistent conditions in June, July and August

Rest and relaxation
There are three treatment rooms where you can visit our therapists for some pampering or have a massage to aid recovery, ready for another day on the water, bikes or tennis courts. There’s loads of space on the beach, amongst the pine trees or in the gardens to find a quiet corner and finish that holiday book or you could just chill out around the pool.
Food and drink
It’s club board dining at Airone Beachclub with an Italian influence, think pizza, pasta and plenty of fresh fish. This area of Italy is known for its love of chillies, so expect a few spicy treats on the buffet too. Club board includes breakfast and lunch every day plus four evening meals per week.
On non-inclusive evenings, dine with us in the roof top à la carte restaurant which enjoys wonderful views across the tree-tops to the sea beyond. Once a week there's also a bbq or you can try one of the local restaurants.
We expect your inclusive evening meals to be on the following days (to be confirmed):
Spacious rooms are located in the gardens or in the main hotel building. Garden rooms are in one of eight 'villas' that sit side-by-side, each has four rooms on the ground floor with a terrace and four on the first floor with a balcony, all have twin or double beds, some also have a single sofa bed. These rooms look across the gardens or the surrounding countryside.
Rooms in the main hotel are located on the first or second floor. Our club rooms (twin, double and family) look over the gardens, pool or surrounding countryside, the majority have a balcony. Economy twin/doubles and interconnecting rooms face into an open atrium and do not have a balcony or terrace. All rooms have air conditioning, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, safe, beach towels and hairdryer. There's free Wi-Fi in the public areas and in most of the rooms.
Families and kids
Airone is great for children, with a long and sandy beach, shallow waters and a separate kids’ splash pool. The grounds are flat with bags of space to play and pushchair friendly for those of you with babies and toddlers.
There’s family and inter-connecting rooms plus the usual Neilson crèche and kids’ clubs for children aged from 4 months to 17 years. Make sure your children don't miss out, pre-book before you go to secure a space in the club they want. If needed there’s also cots, baby baths, buggies and a 24-hour baby room.
Airone Beachclub is located on the Gulf of Taranto, between golden sandy beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see and rolling, rural countryside. There’s a sleepy vibe to the immediate surroundings, but if you do tire of beach life, there’s lots to explore nearby.
Head to Sibari (10km away), here you will find archaeological sites galore due to its proximity to the ancient Greek colony towns of Sybaris and Thurli. The ancient inhabitants of Sybaris became infamous for their hedonism to such an extent that “sybarite’ has become a byword for opulent luxury and pleasure-seeking!
A 30-minute drive away is the medieval town of Rossano, one of the most celebrated villages for art and architecture in this part of Calabria. Perched on a hillside, the old town is a warren of beautiful old streets, with many grand old houses, churches and an 11th century Cathedral. Interestingly, Rossano is also well known for producing liquorice!
Closer to home, 100m along the beach, there are a couple of excellent beach bars serving great food in an even better setting - perfect for a relaxed evening.
