We’re Neilson - proud partners of Restless Development and big fans of getting stuck in, and we’re thrilled to be supporting the young triathletes again this year - and sharing a little Good Energy along the way.
Offering Beach Clubs and ski holidays, we know a thing or two about fun, freedom and trying something new. Our Beach Clubs pack in 25+ activities and up to 60 hours of kids’ clubs each week, giving families a chance to relax, recharge, and do their thing.
And as a Which? Recommended Provider, you know you'll be in good hands.
To help your child feel race-day ready, we're kicking off with some simple cycling tips.
Let's Get Race Ready on the Bike
Getting the saddle height right is one of the simplest ways to improve comfort and control on the bike. When pedalling, your child’s knee should have a slight bend at the lowest point of the rotation - not fully straight and not overly bent. As a quick guide, when your child stands next to their bike, the saddle should sit at around hip height.
Recognise this face? That’s Angus – one of our Head Bike Guides from the Beach Clubs. He’s put together a quick video to help you set your child’s bike to the right height and get it ready to race. Click the image below to watch.
Safety first
Also, a quick safety check before riding makes all the difference. Use the guide printed on the tyre sidewall to set the correct tyre pressure and make sure tyres are fully inflated.
Check that the brakes work smoothly without stiffness or resistance, and ensure your child’s helmet fits snugly, with the straps secure and minimal movement when worn.
What’s Coming Next
With the cycling essentials covered, we’ll continue to share practical preparation guidance in the weeks ahead to support young triathletes as race day approaches. This journey goes beyond the event itself, and we’re excited to bring our Good Energy to every step along the way.
