Katschberg ski holidays

Katschberg in Austria is one of our top-selling family resorts for some very good reasons. It has doorstep skiing, an unspoilt, quiet ski area, a huge array of child-friendly activities and an excellent snow record.

The mountain was almost carved with beginner skiers & boarders in mind. The dedicated nursery slopes will keep learners happy and away from the speedy who will be cruising the miles of uncrowded pistes.

At a glance...

Katschberg is surrounded by beautiful pine forests which means most of the runs are tree-lined. Nightlife is on the low-key side and centres around our featured hotel, the Hotel Cristallo.

That's not to say that things are dull, far from it. There's plenty of chilled out activities like night skiing, tobogganing and horse-drawn sleigh rides on offer.

The unhurried ski area is definitely one of Austria’s best-kept secrets. It’s a quiet resort set right in the middle of pine forest. It’s also a great resort for learners, with loads of dedicated nursery slopes and miles of uncrowded pistes to explore.

The micro-climate also means it has great snow conditions year round. Intermediates will be happy here as well since the tree-lined runs are perfect for them. Even during busy times you won’t have to wait much - the modern lift system is extremely efficient.

Off the mountain

Katschberg has a low-key nightlife scene, with a small selection of cosy restaurants to choose from. These range from very traditional mountain huts that serve up Austrian classics like Germknödel and Jagatee, to more modern menus serving up pizza, pasta and burgers.

There’s also a great choice of popular activities like night skiing and tobogganing, and even horse-drawn sleigh rides.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides

Don't miss...

When it comes to off-the-piste things to do, there’s some real fun to be had. Tobogganing is great for all the family and you can also go for a horse-drawn sleigh ride around the area. If you still need more slope time, you can go night skiing too.

Nightlife is very low-key in Katschberg. There’s a little village centre with a few shops and a smattering of restaurants and bars. Some of these do live music, but evenings tend to be on the quiet side around here.
