The Strass Hotels have everything - a huge array of leisure facilities (including a large pool and a spa area with various saunas and a hot tub), multiple restaurants and three hotel bars including the famous Eisbar après-ski bar.
The Strass is comprised of four interlinked buildings; the Strass and the superior Sport Strass hotels and then the Aparthotel and three-star Garni Strass, which are interconnected to the main building via a glass overhead walkway.
It's very family friendly (kid's menu, kiddie pool, play area and more) and perfect for groups too. If you want a break from the snow, hit up one of the two squash courts or go for a round of table tennis. There's also a soundproofed nightclub for when you're in the mood for dancing!
If you're hoping to find the perfect hotel for your group right in the centre of Mayrhofen and just a few steps from the Penken Gondola, then look no further - this is it.

About the resort
Mayrhofen has a well-deserved reputation for being a great all-rounder. The slopes are seemingly endless (over 500kms in the area) as is the nightlife, the lift system is quick, the terrain is diverse and there really is something for everyone.
The village is typically Austrian with multi-coloured buildings running along the largely car-free resort centre. You'll soon find a bar that suits your mood. The range goes from full on Jaeger-bombing to laid-back traditional oompah and everything in-between.
Don't miss a visit to the White Lounge ice bar on the Ahorn mountain. Pull up an ice seat at an ice table in the crazily lit bar, or head out to the sea of sun-loungers with your drink and work on removing your goggle tan.
The resort also plays host to some pretty big events. The Altitude Comedy Festival sees top comedy acts (John Bishop, Sean Lock, Marcus Brigstocke etc) fighting it out for laughs on and off the slopes. Snowbombing music festival is held in various venues and hotels in Mayrhofen. It can be quite full-on so we don't really recommended it for families.

A hot and cold buffet breakfast covers the half board option at Strass Hotels for the first (and most important) meal of the day. In the evening there's a four-course meal with salad buffet for the 4four-star Sporthotel and Aparthotel guests, while the three-star guests get a matching three-course meal.
There are children's menus for the little ones, and if you get hungry outside of mealtimes, just go to one of the myriad restaurants and bars in the hotel - you have a lot to choose from.
Families and kids
This is a fantastic choice for families on holiday - there's so much for everyone here that you'll have a hard time remembering to get out and take advantage of the slopes!
There's an unsupervised children's play area inside and a children's swimming pool just for the little ones. The restaurant features a special kid's menu and there's even baby minding should you need that option.
You'll have quite a lot to choose from with Strass Hotels, so finding a room that suits your needs will be a piece of cake.
The four-star Aparthotel Strass rooms all have satellite TV, telephone, hairdryer, a bath or shower and a balcony - these are perfect for couples or trios.
The four-star Sporthotel rooms are also for two or three people. The three-star Garni Strass Junior Suites are slightly bigger and more spacious, and they have an Austrian twin bed as well as a double sofa bed. All of the rooms come with balconies that are perfect for taking in the glorious mountain views.
Official rating: Aparthotel Strass and Sporthotel Strass are ****. Garni Strass is ***
