There's a snack bar underneath the chalets for a quick stop, or you could just nip back to the chalet for a cuppa or even just a quick sit down.

At the end of the day, ski or snowboard to your door, head up the stairs past the equipment storage and boot warmers, turn right and you're straight in to the chalet with its contemporary styled lounge and diner.

Step out if the lounge doors to the large wrap-around balcony which overlooks the resort and slopes for some fresh air and amazing views.

The choice of lifts within 100m of the chalet door includes the two-stage DMC gondola which takes you to 2700m or a series of drag lifts. Having this choice makes the Lac Blanc a good option for complete novices or seasoned pros and everyone in-between.

About the resort

Located on a slightly sloping plateau at the foot of a very impressive mountain, Alpe d'Huez is a real mix of old and new. From the slopes, it's really quite pretty to look at with its mostly low-rise buildings and distinct districts. There's easy access to the slopes from all areas of the resort thanks to a well thought out lift system.

Many resorts claim to be an ‘all-rounder' but in Alpe d'Huez's case, it really is. 238kms of varied slopes sees to that; two snow parks, wide-open beginner slopes and some pretty crazy black runs including one that's accessed through a tunnel and another that's the longest in Europe at 17kms!

Alpe d'Huez has a higher than average amount of sunny days per year than most ski resorts. Work your tan at one of the many mountain restaurants whilst enjoying a delicious Vin Chaud and a welcome leg rest.

As the slopes comes to a close, the resort keeps going with a huge array of nightlife. Choose from small little family-run restaurants, cosy mountain pubs or night-clubs to dance the night away in.

Food and drink

Our chalet board basis is designed for skiers and boarders. Breakfast is a fairly extensive affair with cooked and continental options every day. Your daily afternoon tea of freshly baked cakes and biscuits will be waiting for you when you come in from the slopes.

Evening meals are a three-course set-menu with regionally inspired dishes and free-flowing wine throughout the week, all followed by fresh coffee.

We provide evening meals on six nights a week to leave you free to head out and explore the resort on one evening. For shorter holidays over New Year 2016/17, you still have one night free to explore the resort and local cuisine.

Rooms

Most of the seven twin or double rooms are ensuite and of an okay size with comfy beds and plenty of light. Some share a balcony and have views out across the resort and slopes.
