Penia di Canazei

Nestled in the Val di Fassa and an area of Canazei is the picturesque and traditionally styled Penia di Canazei. It’s an ideal area to base yourself and explore the incredible 1220km of snowsure Dolomiti pistes.

Penia is a laid-back area, surrounded by the towering snow-capped peaks of Belvedere Mountain and the Marmolada glacier. This is most definitely the place to come if the serenity of the mountains is your form of escapism.

At a glance...
  • New for 2017/18
  • 1220km Dolomites ski area
  • Picturesque & traditional
  • Lively Canazei is nearby
  • Ideal for intermediates & advanced

Evenings are quiet in Penia but our Neilson Hotel Dolomites Inn is a lovely and relaxed place to spend your evenings. Roaring fires, fine wine and some good company are all on the menu.

You still have plenty of choice when it comes to nightlife though. Neighbouring Alba (5-10min walk) has a good selection of bars to visit straight off the slopes. Beyond that, Canazei has some great shopping plus plenty of bars, restaurants and a nightclub. All are accessed either by ski bus or taxis which run right up until 4am!

On the mountain

The stunning Val di Fassa makes a convenient base for exploring the incredible 1220km Dolomites ski area. You're not far from the Marmalade Glacier for guaranteed snow, not that you'll need it as 90% of the slopes in the whole area have snow making.

The nearby Alba-Col dei Rossi gondola drops you right on to the 40km Sella Ronda loop which is an intermediate skier and boarder's heaven. Or for a real test of your skills, try the Volcano black run at Buffaure-Ciampac.
