This really was a perfect week in early October, nestled in between school summer holidays and half term, so quieter than they usually are. Every single member of the Neilson team, from the activities guys and gals to the restaurant staff, were just lovely and still full of enthusiasm considering they’d probably had a summer full of being nice to the punters. Mustn’t forget to mention the fabulous chefs who kept us well fed and the food was always fresh, healthy (mostly!) and abundant. Also to note is the availability of free chilled water at various water stations throughout the hotel with which we could top up our water bottles.
The Alana has a great, chilled vibe and I felt the focus was on having fun, trying new things and doing as much or as little as you fancy. Our week had it’s fair share of seasoned sailors and impressive tennis players, but equally there were plenty of us who just fancied trying as many of the activities as possible. I don’t think I’ve ever before belly laughed my way through an aqua fit class - those girls were just brilliant! Whatever the activity, even if my friend and I hadn’t tried it before, the Neilson team were encouraging, patient, funny and just downright lovely!
Our week was a mix of couples, a few families with cute pre school babes, a few groups, friends holidaying together and plenty of folk who were holidaying solo. I travelled with a mum friend and we roomed separately, did somewhat activities together but plenty individually and met some really lovely people throughout the week. I’d definitely consider a Neilson resort as a solo traveller in future.
So thank you to all the wonderful Neilson staff at Alana for a fabulous week and a hugely entertaining music quiz! Deffo planning to book again…
